AHO switch is not illegal. I'm riding 2017 Honda Unicorn 160 which comes with AHO. After 1 year in 2018 I buy the old hornet non bs4 left side switch set and replace with stock switch set. In old one headlight on/off switch is there. I stop by MVI two time in day for documents check. No question been raise for why your headlight not glow when you switch on the ignition.

AHO Switch is illegal... if your vehicle was sold to you without one and you added it later on it becomes illegal. Older models of vehicles didn't have AHO or ABS. Many people are bypassing ABS as well due to expensive repairs and it will also be considered illegal by RTO and people won't be able to claim accident insurance in such cases.

It is illegal, straight way penalty. Only if you your vehicle is BS4 or above compliant. Upto BS3 there was no provision of AHO.

My thoughts are AHO switch should have been legal since the battery is getting depleted within 1.5 to 2 year its not a problem of battery since many battery companies offer 48 months warranty but will you go to service centre ? i mean who have got the luxury of time ?
