That little jokes(4:37) in between are killing me :D. I passed statics with a good note thanks to you Professor Hansen, I plan to do the same with Solids and Dynamics this term, thank you for your videos.

I have to say thank you because these videos are the reason I'm going to crush my P.Eng mechanics of materials exam. I was totally lost at first, but things make sense now! Thank you, Professor Hanson!

as usual, much much better teaching than my prof in uni. also, i got a feeling the whole series is getting an updated version? anyways thank you for the high quality lectures! it helped me easily understand strength of engineering topics which wouldve take me weeks to even comprehend what my prof is trying to teach me.

I have seen him update a lot of his videos in the Statics playlist. I know that he used to have several videos that were several years older than most other videos there, and he told me a couple years ago that he had initially posted those videos because they covered "extra challenging" problems.

Does anyone else struggle with the ads? Like my professor has us watch your videos for his lecture because you're a great teacher Mr. Hansen, but every time I get to writing something important down while you're talking, I get ear-blasted by the sound of "GETTING STUCK ON HOMEWORK?! TRY BRAINLY FOR FREE 1 MONTH...". I should also mention that I turn you up way loud during your lectures xD

I am sorry buddy. KZbin changed their policy and they can run ads on anyone’s videos without their permission. Keep watching....thank you!

@@gunsupreview2720 Makes sense, also 2 of my professors for statics and solids have based my videos off of your lectures. You explain things really well, and I'm never lost! I hope you finish your dynamics and thermodynamics course so I can utilize it when I take it in the fall of 2021 :)

Isn't the normal stress in this problem supposed to carry a negative sign due to it being "compressive normal stress"? Or are we simply finding the magnitude in this case?
