Hyperacusis is the reduced intolerance to sound and is caused by the facial nerve palsies which causes loss of protective stapedial reflex

Not reduced intolerance ... that just means increased tolerance to sound .. that is simply deafness

Hyperacusis can be due to injury of facial nerve above origin of nerve to stapedius or due to injury of nerve to medial pterydoid supplies (tensor tympani).

Injury to facial nerve- branch is nerve to stapedius Or injury to Medial ptetygoid branch of Mandibular nerve, supplies Tensor tympani. Or other reasons that affect attenuation mechanism cause Hyperacusis

Paralysis of stapedius muslce causes wider ranger of osscilation, leading to hyper-reaction of auditory ossciles to sound vibration. This condition is called hyperacusis. Paralysis of stapedius muscle occurs in lesion of facial nerve

@AkshatJuneja
@AkshatJuneja 3 жыл бұрын
Tonic tensor tympani syndrome (TTTS) can cause TT spasm leading to tinnitus and hyperacusis.It is due to an overlying anxiety disorder, which causes a reduction in the threshold required to trigger the TT muscle reflex. All the best for tomorrow :)
