@@youngblood4127 No, those Mechacons are completely different. There is no way to install MechaPwn on pre-50K consoles. Your best bet for those is a modchip sadly.

My DESR-7700 hard drive is broken and I can't access the XMB main menu, but I can use MCBOOT. If I install MechaPwn, can I replace the damaged hard drive myself? If I replace the damaged hard drive and then burn the corresponding official firmware installation disc for PSX(DVR) and put it into my DESR-7700, can it reinstall the PSX system firmware and function normally?

No, you can't replace PSX hard drives at this time.

D-Terminal to RCA component. Canon makes one for their older camcorders but it is pretty expensive. Cheaper options are on eBay and such. Component will also allow up to 1080i in certain games. Many support 480p as well.

I installed mechapwn on my desr 7000 but when i launch my pal games it brings me back to the xmb menu what the problem ?

This is an issue that affects all Japanese PS2s. The BIOS has extra checks that prevent PAL game discs from running. You'll have to use a swap disc or modchip for that. Alternatively, you can load the ISOs from OPL.

Just got a 5000 model that appeared dead, opened it up and found the hdd disconnected... now I have the xmb on screen with the static and I'm stuck here.

There's a blue loading icon on the top right. You can see it in the video at 1:45. Once it is done, the screen will flash white briefly. Just hit left or right on the DPAD like I did at 2:03 afterwards and you'll be able to use the XMB. You can remove the static by selecting any system setting icon or the save utility.

@@Miketage Sounds like part of the __system partition is corrupted. DM krHACKen on Discord, he can help you fix it and reinstall the XMB. You can find him on the PS2 Scene discord server.

Amazing work! I recently bought a PSX that wasn't reading discs, but I was able to install a new set SF-DB11 and KHS-400C lasers inside of my 7700. Opening the laser assembly was a giant headache! I'm very interested in having this installed into my 7700! Is there any time frame for a public release?

That assembly is horrible. I once dropped a HDD screw in there... The latest public RC3 build works but black screens on the end of installation. Just wait 5-10 seconds and unplug it like normal.

@@Ex_Savior Sweet, DVD will work too. The only issue I found was with PS1: you can't play non-Japanese region discs (even burned). Import Player Lite v2.22 can bypass this check.

Put in a US disc or a burned disc. The public build black screens for some reason. It is fine afterwards though.

Hey I see that there is a tag for RC 4.0 that fixed the black screen issue. Is there a tutorial for backing up the PSX HDD? Do I plug in an extreme Al hard drive via USB, or what? The Readme doesn’t explain the method by which you back it up.

I did not back up this console's HDD as MechaPwn doesn't touch the HDD. To backup the HDD, use an IDE to USB adapter and run HDDRawCopyTool. There are tutorials out there for backing up regular HDDs using that tool. It's the same process.

Despite the fact the installation not concluded (at least I was thinking that not), PS2 US disks are working now. I only not succeed to run PS1 US disks.

@@rodrigobarbosa6598 Yep, that's normal with the public build. US PS1 discs won't work due to the extra region check in the BIOS. To use US discs, burn the homebrew ImportPlayer to a disc, insert it into the console, when prompted, switch the disc, and then run the game.

Yes but you should not use that patch. It breaks things and is not a good translation. For instance, on firmware 2.11, it completely removes the ability to export PSP video. On one console I tested it on, it removed DVR features. A better patch is planned to be started later this year.

@@chimujuan1100 Sorry for the late reply (YT didn't notify)! You can only update PSX2 consoles to 2.11. Those are the 5500/5700/7500/7700 units. The rest can only go to 1.31. Also, only the 5700/7700 on 2.11 can export to PSP Video.

@@AmbientMess Sony did part of it already. There exists a partial translation for multiple languages. A friend of mine was going to finish it but his PSX died so we're at a stand still. For now, I recommend Google Translate's mobile app with the camera function.

I have a PSX DESR 5000 with firmware 1.10 I did the Mechapwn exploit and it worked perfectly. But I just bought a PSX Version 1.31 update disc. Will installing that firmware update affect the exploit? Like could it brick the console, or would it just undo the exploit and I would have to redo it.

Mechapwn only affects the Mechacon chip. It does not touch the DVRP firmware or XMB version.

It works on all consoles after the 50K as they have Dragon mechacons.

@@MonkeyBoyJoeyMain Thank you very much. I opted not to bother as I have an NTSC-J SCPH-55000GU and also wanted the ability to boot PSX games region free. I guess chipping the console is about the only option aside from swapping disc's (limited edition model so forget it)

@@DARK__KING JP PS1 Backups only. I burned ImportPlayer Lite for mine but any JP swap discs for PS1 should work.
