The character art is no FM2, FM3, or FM5 but to be honest, it's better than I expected. As long as it's not as over the top anime as Persona, Tales, or Genshin, I can live with that. The (presumably) MC and the two women (the redhead and the white-haired woman from the concept trailer) look cool.

Getting Front Mission 2089: Borderscape, Full Metal Alchemist Mobile, and GFL2 potentially in the same year is pretty damn exciting. Tactics games are more or less perfect fits for mobile, you don't really need to make any compromises to the core gameplay to get them playing smoothly. Very happy to see a resurgence in the genre.

Yup, I'm a FM3 fan too. Zenislev is my favourite. The wanzer names in this game sometimes direct pronunciation translation, and at times translate the meaning (eg zenith as 顶点，which I think kinda subpar translation)

Man, my last good memory of this series was during summer 2004, played the shit out of FM4 on my PS2. Still remember Elsa and the Durandal crew. I'm glad this game is for PC, cuz I don't usually play games on my phone. And since it's on PC, there might be a possibility for a console release in the future. In any case, I'll get it for both, PC and console... if there is a console version. *As of now I got my eyes on this (Front Mission 2089 : Borderscape) and another game : Throne & Liberty. That "T & L" might as well be "Lineage III". I hope you can get in early for that game too. Keep up the good work !

@@jesseRya The only entry in the FM series actually features anime-esque character design is FM 2089 Border of Madness, but it is a very low-budget title for older Japanese celphones. Character designs of FM1/2/3/5 don't go for either anime or trendy celebrity faces.

the actual dev company black jack studio has broken up with SQEX and make this game on their own IP. It is called mecharashi. It does have pretty decent sale in China (as it doesn't have global server).

So few things: 1. how does repair work here, those wanzers doesn't seem to carry backpack. is it a specific unit/parts ability and we can just restore broken part just like that? 2. there are no bullets and explosion marking on the environment, very minor i think but it's weird for me 3. the parts are from gacha, ok i get it but is it premium currency only or something we can grind? TBH the 3rd point kinda worries me, especially this is CN and modern SE game...

1. There are backpacks and weight limits parts and weapons. Certain characters have skills you can learn to repair better. Backpack slot at 7:26 below top slots are shoulder attachments. 2. Yeah, they might change this later, you can explode environment objects later to do damage to the enemy near the end of CH1. Mobile/PC limits. 3. The currency was easy to obtain from grinding during CBT, but that's CBT. Most likely changes later on.

My front Mission was FM3. one of my most wished features, aiming for specific body parts is there. Just wish the soundeffects were more spiky and unique. The PSX did it, then modern PCs should also be capable of it ^^ and more stratigic depth would be awesome

New Front Mission game is awesome news, but i cant help but feel sad that its a mobile game, knowing that it could be way, way better. Well, from what ive seen here, iam not really a fan of these characters, as they look like they came straight from some other random Asian cyberpunk game. The battlefield maps seem super small and havent seen any verticality so far. Is there even high ground in this game? Didnt see any environment destruction or friendly fire either. Allies just seem to disappear when you attack an enemy that is next to them. Seems that some mechanics from older games are missing. Also, the game just looks like a mobile game visually. The UI, the textures and polygons in the environment are just bad. Everything has clearly been scaled down for phones. All that, plus the added fact that now you get wanzer parts from lootboxes makes this game seem kinda... Yikes. Sigh, i wish we could for once get an AAA Front Mission title with this old strategic combat system, but with cool ass graphics, lighting, sound, environments, story and all that good stuff. All they would have to do is take FM3/4 systems and mechanics, then just add and improve upon them. That would be amazing, but i guess my wait must continue.

Play the the games. All the old ones can be played on a emulator (FM1 has like 3 remakes now) and they are all pretty good. Even Scars of War, a Japan only ps2 game has a full english translation now.

Hmmmm, think I'll just watch the cinematics for this and wait for the souless FM 1st and FM2 remake in Switch. Not too familiar with 2089 - FM2's story as I've played FM1 once when I was a kid on the Famicom and then finished FM3 like 6 times and then recently just played 4 and 5 which concludes the main story. If it had Link attacks, no loot boxes and a console release, might have considered playing this...Looks great though!
