Zoticus made my hairs stand on end. Holy shit. And Ode to the forgotten few. Not all is perfect with these versions, I feel. The production value has increased, but on heavier tracks I loved the grit that the earlier versions had, especially on the Conqueror and Empyrean samples. Someone mentioned equalization as a mean of improving this, and I think I agree. It just felt like the orchestra was distant yet stood in front of the guitar and drums, when I want them to stand together.

ode to the forgotten ♥ ♥ Zoticus!! ♥ ♥ ♥!! I want that song definetly, so melodic, so strong, so charged with pain ♥ AND COEXISTS IS TO SURRENDER!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥!!! a big favourite, a big and the most epic and symphonic song in metal history! They're my biggest favourite songs in Mechina's epic history, and listen them as a redux version is a perfect way to bring back an epic story from the past!

I cant wait to experience this the way its supposed to be experienced.. ive experienced each album individually many many times but not in the correct order .. which has led me to believe that ive misinterpreted a bunch of it.. it sounds flat to a person that doesnt have a full range of speakers because there is SOOOOOOO MUCH DETAIL in response to mutton bash (my favorite quality of mechina).. you really need a good system or good pair of metal (genre) ear buds to jam this on to get the full effect and in addition .. I bet the flac files sound incredible but unfortunately im broke af so I havent been able to buy a good reciever to play flac on but im still gonna squeeze off a bill for the Compendium and shipping. what Ive loved about the original productions for each of the albums was that they take you right down into the orchestra and every single sound is given special attention and rendered to be heard in perfect balance with a constantly changing perspective within and around the orchestra.. you can even hear the position of all of the musicians in the orchestra.. I cant describe it in any other words than "its like they create a whole other world with the use of sound where you can literally see the 3d motion picture being constructed right before your eyes in absolute detail (when youre listening to it the right way).. like Im riding on this 'ship' in a world made from perfectly timed frequency intervals within a percussive structure" .. each album and single is an adventure within itself.. my favorite minute and a half of everything to date is 5 minutes to 6:30 into hyperion trenody of the original.. its magnificent, not to say that the newer version isnt equally beautiful... ive never imagined anything like what I imagine when listening to mechina. many props, joe, dave, mel and whoever else contributed. they make everyone else's shit sound kinda sloppy.. and underdeveloped (no offense to everyone else) I have felt at points, like joe was sent back in time to tell us the story of humanity the way it should be told and warn us about what will happen if we dont fix the corruption in our collective consciousness.. haha isnt that crazy? there are times when Ive felt like the multiple races of humanity on this planet were actually different species that came from different origins in the galaxy and we are in constant battle for resources and technology.. each with the goal of escaping the slamming door (death) of this solar system to reach the next habitable solar system. I know right?.. im a lunatic

I liked the remake samples from Conqueror and Empyrean better compared to the originals than these ones. Don't think these sound any better than the originals at all, except for the new sound of "Ode to the Forgotten Few", which I liked well enough that I will be at least listening to the new version in addition to the older. However, these are still pretty fresh impressions, I wasn't initially that fond of many of my favorite songs upon first hearing them, so my opinion on these remakes could totally change, especially once I hear the whole songs.

...huh? I have to be honest. These sound much less interesting than the originals. I can't understand why it was felt that the song should become less intricate and sound more flat. The difference is night and day, really. I still appreciate the effort put into this of course, I just feel that maybe the efforts were put into the wrong things.

Rebuttal, it's not supposed be a *viciously* extravagant album, it's supposed to be a compilation of all they've learned making them and compiling them into a 6 hour epic. Plain and simple you have to realize they haven't remade one song. It's all of them, and this was as much as it was for us as it was for them. Compendium is a flex on what they're made of essentially, you shouldn't expect something radically new I guess.

I also feel like the songs have become a lot slower than the originals and that they are in some parts simply overedited. In my opinion there is to much going on in the background. I think the other samples suffered from the same problem, too, and I would be able to enjoy the songs more if they were a bit less edited.

I don't think the songs have become slower per se. When the redux of The World We Lost was still on Joe's channel, I listened to both the original and the redux version at the same time because I also had the impression that the new version was slowed down and much quieter. Then I listened to my own file of the song on the computer and it sounded MUCH clearer, harder hitting and "faster". I believe this is all due to KZbin's weird compression that makes the songs sound extremely flat and without dynamics. We will see when the compendium is released whether this is true. I at least hope it is. Generally it seems that the new versions of all songs have been revisioned by boosting the massive orchestra behind all the songs. The compression probably exacerbates the problem and makes the guitars and drums sound less powerful in turn.

I think it sounds way more orchestral than it needs to, everytime there comes a moment that had a good rythm/tone in the originals it feels washed away in the new versions. The violin parts which I really love have gone to the background and the orchestral overtune has come into the foreground, don't know what to feel...

Yes indeed, this is the problem that I was talking about. The orchestra sounds much louder and booming than before, making all the little subtle sounds barely audible. For example, the neat little electronic melody that plays in the prechorus of The World We Lost was almost entirely drowned out in the redux version. As I said, I hope it's just KZbin's compression that is at fault. We have to wait and see. I urge everyone to listen to Godspeed, Vanguards on Joe's channel and then listen to your own file on your computer. You'll notice the difference in sound immediately. KZbin somehow flattens the audio. Joe should have probably posted these on the bandcamp page, then we could hear the actual sound.
