Welcome to Camp Navarro. Where is your battlemech trooper?! Don't have one you say? Well the truth is you lost a very expensive army issued battlemech! And you are going to be serving me for 510 years; which about how long it will take to replace the cost of the mech! Now go to the armory and get yourself a new battlemech!

So technically we're the "bad guys" on this one?
@forthrightjaguar32716 жыл бұрын
Not really. Just a merc unit being hired by one of the great houses to fight for them in the civil war.

Mama Delilah oh, but I mean, the Steiners are kind of a bunch of dickheads and/or assholes compared to the Davions...

I have no idea how much you know about the BattleTech background, so here's some perspective into it. 1) War is legal. Literally everyone signed an accord to limit civilian casualties and banned weapons of mass destruction - including orbital bombardment. But the agreement also said that anything that anyone doesn't like is a legal reason to go to war, over the stupidest and pettiest things. That same agreement also says that civilians of a conquered world are immediately given citizenship status and are entitled to equal human rights under their new ruler regardless of what the military from the losing faction may have done.And lastly, it divided everyone into two groups. Sanctioned, Recognized Military Forces, and Non-Combatant Civilians. If you fell into neither group, you were immediately titled a Pirate where it was fair game, and you were entitled zero human rights under any agreement. 2) BattleTech is dystopian, significantly. Star League was considered Utopia by "common" standards. You may or may not know this, but Hesperus II, a Lyran Alliance (Steiner) controlled world has the only Mech Production Line left in the entire Inner Sphere, post Succession Wars. The planet has been invaded a comically number of times by basically everyone, and Steiner was able to hold it. 3) Regardless of their military actions, every faction are preverbal "bad guys" in some fashion. Your options in BattleTech are for alignment are Bad, Worse, or Horrible. Entire worlds stripped of their natural resources, corporate rampancy with no regulation leaving planets disgusting and polluted, permanently uninhabitable. 4) Clanners and "Star League" are the same thing. When Star League collapsed, the Star League Defense Force self-exiled themselves and left the Inner Sphere, traveling 2000 Light Years corewards, they came back 250-ish years later as the Clans and invaded, conquering any resistance ran into. Hope that sheds some light on why everyone's terrible in BattleTech. You'll repeatedly find that just as things start to improve all round in BattleTech that human nature of greed and selfishness takes over and ruins it for everyone.

Noble VI I see your point, pretty much just like the present world... However, from the merc point of view, if you get to work with Davion, they will probably put some of their own troops to support you; Steiner will probably left you on your own and end up as a clanner sooner or later... Liao as far I'm concerned, they just pay you more for each non anticipated threat... On the other hand... The Davions have some badass epic music... I mean with a theme like that, they might be the good guys... Right? Unless of course, the Davion theme is some 4th wall breaking propaganda just like the BattleTech animated series...

As I've said, they're all bad choices. Star League's collapse wasn't an end of an era, it simply repealed the barely civil peace that had existed between the houses. War on a cosmic scale was inevitable before the SLDF abandoned the Inner Sphere. The fact of the matter is that they're all idiots trapped in a box. The Inner Sphere only ranges about 500 Lightyears in every direction from Terra because they're a bubble in a cosmological civilization dead zone. While the entire of Colonized Space extends beyond that, called the Periphery, and even further called the Deep Periphery areas outside the Inner Sphere lack super luminal communications means (cough, Hyper Pulse Generators), and the majority the fact of the matter that the further away any likely colonies were, the later they were settled. There's physically nothing stopping entire organizations, say House Kurita and the Dragonis Combine, from simply packing up and leaving known space - not unlike what the Star League Defense Force did, but any where beyond the Periphery you go, you'd have to start from literal scratch. Unfortunately, the Clans found out the hard way, claiming a new homestead isn't as simple as they thought it would be. The SLDF went 2000 light years corewards, so they were completely out of the Orion Spur, a galactic arm that forks off of the Sagittarius Arm about 30 thousand light years anti-grade. There, in between the Orion Spur and Sagittarius Arm, star density falls significantly, which makes FTL travel difficult, finding suitable colonies even harder, and worse of all, most star formation happens within galactic arms, so all the stars in between them are either, cosmologically speaking, brand new (no viable planet formations habitable), or very old (metal poor). That effectively means that any further expansions Coreward or Rimward would hit a cosmos barrier in that there's nothing there of tangible use. The only options are prograde and antigrade and none of the factions are willing to develop them, and in some cases don't have the means to. The means to build Hyper Pulse Generators has been lost, they know how to operate them, but don't know how to build them. Any communications outside sending a ship as a mail carrier beyond the periphery is currently impossible. They're doomed to an infinite cycle of squabbling over what the other has since they don't have the means to expand and support said expansions anymore.

This is the only game from MW4 series i did not play. Simply because i became a Davion fan in Vengeance and i could not fight against Davions and the main protagonists from Vengeance.

With enough creative dodging and pounding, a Cougar can win against a Vulture.
@Logan9127 жыл бұрын
It's not impossible. Unlikely in a 1v1 situation? Sure. Plus, Cougars are faster than Mad Dogs/Vultures.
@Kerenskyz156 жыл бұрын
Sorry to burst your bubble, but TT specs disagree. Cougar and Mad Dog are the same speed, despite their 25 ton weight difference.
@ElTuailait6 жыл бұрын
But the Mad Dog/Vulture has an insane torso twist capability... I don't think the cougar is able to outmaneuver it
@Seriona15 жыл бұрын
It is possible for a Cougar to beat a Vulture. Example on insane Clan tech, we're going to take a scout mech and design it for combat over scouting hence the Cougar. I'd be scared to take a Vulture in a Cougar but if I had to, it would be the scout mech of my choice.
