@@Burningwithecstasy If you want to go back further, in 1996 when FASA was around Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries also had Solaris. It may not have had the famous maps, but the planet was there. As for the IP going to another company, I don't think other companies would budge. Activision lost their license to make the Mechwarrior games after the disastrous result of the Mechwarrior 2 Titanium Trilogy, Hasbro already threw their hat into the ring with Mechwarrior 3 and EA had their chance with BT:3025 Multiplayer and they blew it. So we are stuck with PGI whether we like it or not.

Illusions Of Victory was my first bought BattleTech novel, and Solaris VII was a major highlight of MW4: Mercs, in no small part to Duncan Fisher. So I'm beyond pumped to get back in the arena! And something else to help tide me over till 3047-3048...

@@disky01 well, at the end of the teaser it said Invasion starts 2024, so I just figured that it was possibly close. Might just be hopeful thinking on my part, but with so many good things from my childhood making a major comeback (FFVII, Gex, Clock Tower and much more), I'm feeling excited. MechWarrior 2 was the first game I ever played on my PC, and was the first game series I really got into. So playing as the Clans again? It's like its 1995 again!

@thomasrose4523 Sorry, I was referring to the 3047-48 comment. I haven't seen anything that displayed the in-game year in which the Solaris stuff can be started. If it's anything like the other DLCs, if your savegame is past a certain date you just can't access the DLC.

Looking good! Eventually we need a first-person RPG set on Solaris VII, that deals with its gritty underworld. Base it off the Mechwarrior RPG rules, but really use it as a way to better illustrate the "street view" experience of Battletech. Open world, and sort of a lower-tech cyberpunk. Want to be a gladiator, smuggler, spy, or even a ninja? Go for it. Want to buy a needler pistol and fire it from the window of your hovercar? Absolutely. Want to go to the Steiner Colosseum and watch a match while waiting for your contact? We got you.

Hm, maybe something like a remake of the Battletech game "The Crescent Hawk's Inception"? You'd be a Cadet in a Steiner Academy and the Draconis Combine attacks (iirc), It had some fun gameplay elements which would work in a modern setting. Like a mix of a FPS and a mech game with roleplaying elements in an open world and some elements (like who turns traitor) being randomized (iirc) with also side stuff to do like getting mechanic training, a stock market, recruiting NPC's salvaging mechs, upgrading mechs etc. Pretty sure it had arena combat too.

Love the Solaris League DLC! I was the Solaris League manager for Mechwarrior Leagues where teams played Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries from '02 to '08. I do have one complaint. I keep running into Solaris missions where one or more enemies either spawn under the ground where they can't be hit or the last 2 enemy Mechs can't be found. Fixing those bugs would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait for Mechwarrior: Clans to drop! Cheers! Edit: Can you please bring back the ability to knock a Mech down again like all the other Mechwarrior games? You even show it in this preview. If I blast a guys in the CT with a non lethal hit, he should at least go down. And bring back the ability to turn off the radar and go passive so you can sneak up on the enemy. Clan LBX-20s, HVACS, Inferno missiles, Thunderbolts, and Long Toms. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! 😂✌

I'm excited for this new DLC and got it on sale today! With this being a sign of continuing DLC releases, I would hope this one follows up with DLC that gives the prelude of 3050 events, including for Inner Sphere to have Axeman and all the mechs that exist up to 3050, also since there will be the standalone Clans game, they should do a campaign on Inner Sphere side in Mercs with Adam Steiner that would be a big seller right there too

Ironically, the only setting where Battletech mechs make sense: a relatively small arena, a strict set of rules limiting the targeting and effective distances, and the whole thing geared towards showmanship rather than warfighting.
