I like how MW:O touches the one part of the lore. The 29:24 bit is a recreation of Phelan Kell encountering TimberWolf omnimech for the first time in 3049 on "The Rock". His mechs computer did not recognise the machine, but due to visual resemblances it kept switching between Marauder and Catapult as target designations. Then it bugged out and displayed MadCat, hence the inner sphere designation MadCat for TimberWolf
@FroggyMosh2 жыл бұрын
Yep. gave me chills, seeing how the targeting computer kept trying to make sense of the machine. With the clanner eyeing him up for the challenge. We need Mechs, dammit, and we need them. Now! We need to get there, Yesterday. _(but maybe skipping the glassing of entire worlds, that'd be nice)_

Want to keep playing untold battles as a mech commander? There is a tabletop game. Your experience is not complete without it. It comes in two flavors. Beginner box, 2 plastic mech miniatures, simplified rules. Battletech a game of armored combat. 8 miniatures, standard set of rules, including heat and internal damage. I usually recommend to buy both. If you feel standard rules are too intimidating, you may view the videos of "Battletech fan" youtube channel. A visual guide that shows that rules are common sense to simulate what happens with stompy robots. If you are a parent, Battletech game is like chess with math. So if you want to keep your kids sharp for STEM and spend some quality time with your family, try Battletech standard tabletop. You may love to watch the educational power of tabletop Battletech. There's a million things wrong with the MW4 intro in terms of details, but in terms of effects and graphics it does look the best. They would need to hire someone who actually gave a damn about the lore to make a movie though. This war is supposed to take place in the Inner Sphere but almost everyone is using Clan 'Mechs. MW4 always confused me when I played it as a kid because I never understood why anyone wouldn't use "Clan extended range" versions of every energy weapon. Only much later did I find out that the Clans and Inner Sphere haven't shared technology for 300 years. I don't usually get bothered by one-hit kills because there are almost always edge cases in BattleTech where that happens anyway. Through-armor criticals that hit ammo bins and other such shit.

Mercenaries was also incredible, I remember that when I played it in 1999 a mission that blew my mind was one I could refuse to fullfill a contract mid mission. Had never seen such interaction with a game mission before. In it the guys we were attacking asked us to back away and they would double the money our original contractors were paying. I did that and it did actually work for real, the guys with me got pissed and the original targets helped me out. Was insane back then. I think it would be cool to start a year or so before the invasion and have the first season feature the crew of the Outbound Light along with others like Victor, Phelan Kell, and so on. Then the season finale can end with the arrival of the Outbound Light over Huntress. Season 2 can then feature the Clans planning for the invasion along with Inner Sphere storylines (maybe even have flashbacks to events from the 3020s like the battle of Misery) and then end season 2 with the Clans showing up in the Periphery. Season 3 then has the invasion proper and ends with the death of the IlKhan, then the next season is all about the period between invasion waves. Followed up by the renewed invasion. Feature the Battle of Luthien and then the Battle of Tukkayid in the final season. I don’t know, you could do a lot.

I still remember mechwarrior 4 last mission exchange between the protagonist and the antagonist: “Tell me whatever you want I will give you” “How about you give me my family back” That was deep

My wife said: "... I think..." And I recalled an old line from MechCommander - my first mech/space themed game: "Dont think MechWarrior.. Find Out"

it would be the best thing ever, if they could do the Vulture looking and animating like exactly in the trailer of MW4 :) .. soo sexy !

I think MW3 was the best. I also preferred the Graphics in MW3 even over MW4. While MW4 may have had better detail with weapons but the areas in 4 were way Too colorful for my taste. I think MW3 had it just right which imho the Graphics were the most realistic.

Still get a chill at the Ghost Bear's Legacy intro. I love the Kodiak in TT, and that intro is just....mmpf.

Where did you get that MW3 cinematic? That's not the one that shipped with the game. It's not even the early cut from the beta... I've never seen it before.
@blaggzear31529 жыл бұрын
+GarageBay9 It was a Demo pre-release, which then got changed to the version we got in the final release version on cd

And thank Kerensky for that. The way those two fireflies jumped of the building fired their missiles at the summoner and kept flying like planes was utter retardation. A jumpjet does not a VTOL craft make.

Game files had them too. Just like taking MW mercenaries and putting in a couple player let you listen to the music.

Trying to remember which game had a cinematic fighting in a city that ended coming face to face with an Atlas and the mech getting destroyed or something like that. Been years and years since I last played a Mechwarrior game.

This comment comes late, but in case you never found out, you most probably remembered the trailer for the cancelled version of MechWarrior 5 by Smith & Tinker. It is also shown in this video at 23:40.

That Mechwarrior 2 cinematic is still the best of the bunch, as much as I enjoy the live action scenes from games of the time (notably C&C) they felt just a little too hammy. The very first cinematic we got from Piranha that was initially suppose to be MW5 was also really good, man was I ever stoked for a new Mechwarrior game but ultimately disappointed that it turned into MWO. MW5 Mercs is fine but sandbox games just don't hit the same as story driven games do, here's to hoping MW5 Clans delivers.

Great nostalgic collection thanks for posting it. It bothers me that people that made these cinematics love to make the mechs explode on "death". The probabilities of that happening are super low.
