I was 19 when this came out, not old enough to get into discos, but old enough to dance to it with friends. Loved it. I still have this on vinyl. Living during the time of disco was wonderful and I loved it and miss it!

As much as I love Meco's treatment of Star Wars, this is absolutely sensational and completely beyond compare. Epic! Campy as hell! Brilliant! All the things one associates with the best and brightest of Disco. One of the best things to ever have been committed to wax. The fact that this album has never been released on CD/digital (nor any of Meco's classic disco albums save Star Wars) is an absolute crime that definitely needs rectifying. The world needs this. Silly, joyous, celebratory fun after an absolutely rotten year.

This was released in 1977. I was born in 1978. I own this both on record and CD! I love this tribute to the beloved, excellent, extraordinary, fantastic, magnificent, marvelous, wonderful MGM 1939 classic movie The Wizard of Oz, my favorite movie of all time! Just for the record (no pun intended), this is not the full 12" vinyl album. The first obvious cut occurs at 3:46--skipping minutes of music. Very sad. I have the album and a cassette recording of the full music and I will see if I can digitize it and post it if anyone is interested...

jcomments8 Yes, this is not the two-sided LP. This is the one-sided 12" disco single version which is about 10 minutes shy of the full Meco LP score. As a single it is quite generous.

I had forgotten about this song for about 40 years until Alexa played it randomly! I remember in the late 70's they would play portions of disco songs as 'outros' while cutting off to a commercial and the 1978/79 Chicago Bears / Cubs era of that time was no exception. This brings back so many memories it is unbelievable.

***** I had this LP long time ago and then when I finally bought myself a CD player/cassette recorder/am/fm stereo radio I got it on a CD. I used the CD so much It finally wore out. After many years I finally found it on EBAY new and still in the wrapper. I still enjoy it. A few years ago when Donna Summer died (in 1979 she was known as The Queen of Disco) My heart just dropped. To this day I am still wondering why she never got the big news coverage that Whitney Huston got. I am not taking anything away from Whitney but when Donna Summer died it was just a fleeting news report. :'(
