It's so meaningful for me to be able to see a hijabi med-student! I randomly came across your videos and literally started telling everyone about you. You're so outgoing and seem so genuine that I'm positive you'll make a great doctor ;)!
@skyzzcsgo5387 жыл бұрын
why is it so meaningful? Just another person going to med school. Does it really matter what you wear in order to gain recognition? I truly despise this idea and way of thinking. But whatever, that's just my way of viewing of your comment.
@mahadotcom7 жыл бұрын
I think what @salma means is it means a lot to see someone who looks like you (in this case by wearing the hijab) do something you aspire to do. Just makes a difficult task seem much more attainable! Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching my videos! :)
@salma99097 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what i meant. i find it’s hard to physically see people to relate to with my personal interests (that are hijabis) despite knowing that they are out there. And i highly doubt everybody gives her recognition solely for her hijab. I guess it’s a matter of perspective then, too.

I'm honestly SO thankful for you. I'm a current pre-med student and I really really enjoy watching you because you are truly passoionate about medicine. It's so nice to see that passion can truly allow you to get through medical school. Thank you so much for these videos since it gives me such a nice and honest view of medical school. I hope you keep making videos as little boosts of "you can do this" for me!!

Oh it's the worst when people wanna talk about the exam after taking it. Especially if you have to write an essay or something like that, because then they just talk about the things they put in the essay and I'm just standing there like "I knew how to spell my own name does that count"

I just finished my last final today~ It was a biochemistry exam and I was so exhausted by the time it was over. I did pretty good on it and I'm ready to relax for the next 2 weeks until my winter class starts! Enjoy your break!

Karen M i plan on changing my major to biochemistry... any advice... how was the exam?
@avolovo7 жыл бұрын
It was a cumulative final exam and many people got 70s. I got a high 80 so I guess a lot of people found it to be hard. I took biochemistry as a required class for obtaining a master degree for nutrition and food science, not for a biochemistry major. So I can't give you good advice on succeeding in this major. But I do know two people who major in biochemistry and they say there's a lot of memorization. I found that to be true even in my own biochemistry class. So make sure you have a strong foundation on basic chemistry terms (e.g. knowing the difference between synthase and synthetase - it'll help with understanding which enzymes use ATP). Study to know and understanding the material, do not just memorize random details. Everything connects. Good luck on whichever path you choose!
@strongbodystrongmiind7 жыл бұрын
Karen M i actually want to do nutrition & food science as well. wow what a coincidence... the path i was going to take was “nutritional biochemistry.”..
@avolovo7 жыл бұрын
Wow that is a coincidence! If you haven't started yet, what I wish I have done back then was paid more attention to my chemistry and microbiology classes - many concepts from these classes show up again in biochemistry. For organic chemistry, knowing the structures may help understand some concepts of biochemistry, but my professor didn't require us to know the structures.

Karen M I’m actually in junior college right now... i’m finishing up my associates degree in psychology... but i plan to major in biochem once i get into university

I really would love to get into med school it’s always been a dream for me . Yet no matter how hard I try during high school like studying for hours on a test or on an exam I never get back the results I want and it really frustrates me as I feel like I won’t get into medical school . And all the teachers who tell me I should revise more they don’t understand because literally if I know there’s an up coming Exam I revise everyday for hours and my results still aren’t what I want them to be sadly :(

(I’m on my first year so I have a long way to go😂 - studying to be a Veterinarian) Also, is med school schedule different or the same? Can you pick what days you can go to class or is it the whole week? Hopefully you’ll answer me on this! Thanks girlll💗
