You don't need to feel guilty that you are privileged to be studying medicine and that this cannot still exhaust you. It's totally OK and normal to feel overwhelmed and to take 1 or more days off. It's OK to get rest, to have some peace and quiet. People these days feel they need to be productive all day long. You can still achieve great things while taking it slow and following what your body and mind need.

thank you so much for showing a more vulnerable moment in your medicine journey, as someone going into medical school it’s so reassuring that feeling overwhelmed is normal and that you don’t have to be a total machine. It’s clear how hard you work :) amazing video and amazing channel 🫶🏻

Hey Sab, as a junior doctor, 2 years out of med school. Please don’t ever feel bad for taking rest days. It is so so important for your long term health. Looking after yourself is the best way to look after your patients! I love watching med school vlogs cause nostalgia aha, but good luck & sending love. ❤

3:52. What you said is so true.. I remember when I was in the ER for a very high fever, they had to do a spinal tap on me to rule out meningitis. They had this med student do one on me, it was her first time and she was sooo scared. As a very sick patient, I told her she will do fine and I trusted her. Nevertheless it went fine and the attending told her she did the spinal tap perfectly. Of course I made it out unscathed! lol 😅

Thank you so much for saying "so much of medicine is forcing yourself to be comfortable in novel situations". I'm a pre-PA student and as an anxious person, I've been feeling that SO much. I'm trying to push myself to do the scary things and it's a nice reminder that I'm not the only one! 😅

thank you for being so vulnerable with us about how you were feeling. it is a privilege but not something to feel guilty about! it's very evident that you are grateful to be where you are, but that doesn't mean you can't have bad day or need rest. we live in such a hustle culture where we think having a day off is unacceptable, but considering school and balancing your work life, you are doing such a great job! i love your vlogs because of how raw and genuine you are. im about to be a senior in undergrad for psych and im excited to see what grad school will be like! can't wait to see the next video!

as someone studying to be a health care worker, i'd wear a high quality respirator in any common or public spaces. otherwise it can send the message that you don't care for public health / yourself / your loved ones / your future patients, which doesn't look good 😬

As a biology professor, there's a crap ton of content that biology students, especially medical students, have to very rapidly ingest. This is exacerbated by the lecture, and the presentation format of the instructor/doctor. The brief clip at 10:45 was very painful for me to watch; the slide was all words, no diagrams or pictures (not even the doc's face), terrible slide color (very distracting) and font choice, and difficult to follow. The doc's voice sounded pleasant, but I'm sure hours of that would put even experts to sleep. I really hope not all your lectures are this format, and if so, don't blame yourself when information doesn't stick, or for falling asleep while watching the videos lol! Education shouldn't be this way, especially when you're paying around $200k+. Keep it up, you're doing great!

Guilt does nothing to help the underprivileged. If you really feel guilty, then do something in life that helps them. Otherwise, it's just pity points.
