Yes but it isn't true. I saw a unit member of his go public after Vance&Fox tried this attack and he said this decision was taken long before they recieved the order. Furthermore what everybody seems to forget: You can retire after 20 years of service. Walz stayed even longer than that. And when he joined congress he went to the veteran affairs committee and helped veterans on many issues like mental health and expanded their helat care coverage

I've done seven deployments and a couple of stints boots on ground, I don't believe Walz could lead a squad out of a wet paper bag. MSM keeps talking about National Defense Medals and GWOT ribbons, they're cookies for service. I'm proud of them, but if you served during their window, you get them, not like a Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Commendation, Achievement and many others that are earned doing something warranted, not just taking a oath. Walz is no war hero, least of all combat veteran.

My step-son re-enlisted while in Ramadi at a FOB so he would not have to leave his men behind. He served 4 tours voluntarily 3 in Iraq, and 1 in Afghanistan, was awarded 3 PHs in 8 days in Afghanistan. Was wounded and medivaced back to the states for emergency surgery, and finished 20 years active Army as a Sgt First Class. He has more bravery in his little finger than Walz has in his whole body.

I can comment with my own experience. I was an active duty member of the Army National Guard and volunteered to go as a detachment sergeant for a unit mobilized in Dec 2003 . We deployed to Iraq for 1 year. I returned and was promoted to MSG and was responsible for issuing moblization orders for other Army National Guard units. I retired in 2007. Governor Walz was selected and conditionally promoted to Command Sergeant Major into a Field Artillery Battalion. He also incurred an obligation to complete the Sergeant Major Academy. He knew deployment was coming and decided to retire before the unit received their alert order. He bailed on the Soldiers in that Battalion. He knows it and so did the Soldiers in the Battalion. I also saw this with many Army Guard Soldiers who had served for years and when it came time to deploy bailed. Even if it was acceptable from a legal perspective, he was a coward.

Many who are now retiring have spent as much time or more in harms way doing multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as their active duty counterparts. The National Guard Unit I had the honor to command was one of the few deployed to Vietnam. They were there at the same time I was with the 3d Marine Division. Since WWII this unit only missed one conflict. That was Desert Storm. Thank you for your service please respect the service of your brothers and sisters.

Furthermore what everybody seems to forget: You can retire after 20 years of service. Walz stayed even longer than that. And when he joined congress he went to the veteran affairs committee and helped veterans on many issues like mental health and expanded their health care coverage

I listened to Walz about the deployment of the national guard to stop the BLM riots in Minn. I find it weird that he said concerning the National guard which he was part of for 24 years, what good is it to send 19 year old cooks with guns to cause more problems.
