What is the etiopathophysiology of Ankylosing Spondylitis? I am researching because I have this condition and want to know why I have it. I watched through the whole video, and combined with my knowledge on other videos and a book I read on it. I am aware that HLA-B27 is confirmed in 90% of Ankylosing Spondylitis cases. Genetic and nongenetic risk factors combine with gut microbiome alterations which activate lymphoid cells, the lymphoid cells then migrate to axial skeleton and peripheral nerves, from there lymphoid cells produce interleukin 17 and interleukin 22. TNF-a is also involved and cyclo-oxygenase (COX-2, I think) is also involved. I feel like I am missing the full details of the etiology and pathophysiology.

What’s that? I have severe IBD issues but no one has related it to the arthritis.
