Talking of this case, I remember on a case when my aunt( elder sister of my mother) told us she received a call from a scammer claiming that her son( also my cousin) was in his hands. The most ridiculous part is that the kidnapped cousin was a CID officer! After hearing what she said, I told her that it was a scam and that since my cousin was a CID officer, he won't be easily kidnapped. After hearing what I said, my mother suddenly recalled that I was right and asked my aunt not to do anything but to call her son. After my cousin told my aunt he was fine, he asked me what had happened that my aunt would be so nervous. I told him that a person had called her saying that he had been kidnapped and she nearly believed what the scammer said. Luckily, I told her that my cousin was an officer and that this was a scam call trying to cheat her of her money by asking another person to impersonate as my cousin.

This happen to me a few years ago. I got a call saying that my son was arrested by the police for some crime. Using another phone I call my son who said that he is alright and is driving home. Told the scammers to get lost and i went to make a police report.
