Ok I have only watched the first few seconds but you had me at hello. The flaming finger and hair in all seriousness has to be the best intro for any KZbin video ever. This should be used as an exemplar for pure comic timing and if there are filmmakers out there wondering why that’s important then as an editor I can assure you that it’s a fundamental to making great films and if you can cut a scene that makes someone laugh then you can probably cut anything. Pure genius again from this channel and what’s astonishing is the content here is always of that incredible standard. Thx so much to all at media division.

Thanks Diego.... very much appreciated! It is an old, cheap curved Samsung Premium UHD TV. I use it as it is HDR and relatively small.... also, the curvature makes sense at this distance. It has been long discontinued and there are better offers out now. The best way to support us is becoming a member of the channel... and you get all the perks coming with your tier. As colors come up a lot, I will make a standard answer to this: It’s a production/field monitor. It is designed to offer good viewability in difficult situations. It is not designed to be a color reference display (as Atomos and SmallHD field monitors aren't either). Calibration only works if you are in controlled lighting situations as your eyes rebalance all the time… like you well know I suppose. Could you calibrate it? As it supports LUTs, you can use your preferred calibration tool to generate a correction LUT. Could you use it as a grading monitor? Sure. Would I use it as a grading monitor. Probably not. I rather use something that I expect my audience to view my content on... an Ultra HD Premium TV. Can't say much about color space coverage etc. other than what you'll find on the product website.

It is not something I put in the “pleasant” category for sure… it is painful, it is a bit scary (during procedure), and the first night after is terrible. Everything, even a alarm clock is painfully bright. But, all in all it is not worse than a root canal if you had the pleasure of one of those. Takes a hour… Next day, you can see normally. If you need strong glasses before, it is a new world. With a bit of helo around light sources that dissapeared after 6 month. I would do it again.

That is one of the “other” brands I mentioned we have in the studio. It’s ok with a hood, but this makes it so much easier to see it from all over the room. 4k really doesn’t make a difference in this context. They say HDR but in the specs its not an hdr monitor also I don't see anything about calibration.

It is perfect to judge HDR signals in the field. As it supports LUTs you can create your own calibration LUTs, although, calibration only really makes sense in stable light conditions... aka NOT the field. If you are looking for a grading monitor... this is not it. If the specs don't fit your needs.... get something that suits your needs and wallet . Good luck

Considering the OSEE 7 inch monitor has caused many of us trouble and alot of lost revenue Id say this is a TERRIBLE value. It took a tremendous amount of effort but I did end up getting my money back from China. 😲

Sorry you had bad experiences. To be fair, I had problems with about any product from any manufacturer with very mixed results. Haven't had one with Osee so far, so I can't say. Other Chinese brands have been quite generous.

If you test the Korean brand Tvlogic 18.5 inches, the color is the most accurate. Most brands lose color when they become brighter.

Fantastic review, honest and cutting through the online bullshit. Zweckorientiert. 👏 I am tempted, as it could work really well for lighting, too. Especially in combination with the custom false colour.

Thanks a lot philip! Glad you see it this way. It is definitely not bright enough to light something other than miniatures. The nuclear blast intro is of course a VFX

@@MediaDivision Haha!! Of course, I meant for setting up lighting and checking exposure, it just works better on a bigger monitor, because you tend to be quite far away from any monitor when pushing fixtures and handling light stands, but that was the answer I actually expected from you guys! 😄👍
