Been following Mikey and Skinny Medic for a while now. Solid dudes; solid advice. I'm in Asheville NC, so I was smack dab in the belly of the beast. People would scoff when they saw that I rocked a SOF-T wide in my left darn tough sock. Not on the morning after the storm, with all of that chainsaw action going on & extended response times from EMS. My Simple Pump auxiliary hand powered well pump was able to help a lot of my neighbors stay hydrated. Especially the elderly...

First aid I think is especially important if focusing on firearms. Not everyone can just stick a thumb in it and get lucky. Even a bb gun can poke a hole in a blood hose. Just hiking around and falling on a stick can go horrifically bad. Stop the bleed kit at bare minimum.

Thank You!!. We have many people here in eastern NC rotating in/out of the disaster area. Your video covers a lot of things they can easily throw in when responding. Stop the bleed kits and Benadryl are ones often forgotten. I would add something like wet wipes or Dude wipes. Depending on the location, showers may be hard to come by.

10:40 @Mrgunsngear , Benadryl has a 2oz pump spray bottle, available at any pharmacy, Walmart, etc. I’ve used those on bee, wasp, & yellow jacket stings stateside - plus scorpion stings in two foreign countries for immediate topical relief. *Superb* kit, drops in the pocket or boo-boo kit, combine with Benadryl caplets & ice (if available). Hopefully they can get a case or two distributed.

Dang he's still around? Havent seen anything from or about him in 2-3 years. I used to follow him. Then wife and I budgeted 1K for medical supplies. I emailed him asking for a list of everything we should have at that budget. We're ignorant on the medical stuff sadly but i guess our budget wasn't high enough for him to waste his time. And thats ok. it's his business and his time. I'm not mad at him. I ended up buying from someone else and found out later i got a bunch of crap we didnt need. Like surgical tools. But I'm glad Skinny Medic is still doing good.

In the Clinical Lab we used to use Povidone-iodine (betadine) to clean sites for blood culture extraction sites and it is used in the OR but you do have the potential for an allergic reaction. A few years ago there was a switch to Chlorhexidine gluconate (as far as I know Chlorhexidine is prescription) just cause it works and there is no betadine / iodine sensitivity issues. Any which way you cut it (no pun intended) an ounce of prevention..... clean and disinfect and add "broad spectrum antibiotic cream so the bugs don't get a foot hold and start doing their thing.

1 Benadryl active drug = 1/2 walmart brand sleep aid active drug. Same thing. Just slightly different dose, different packaging, and different "intended use". Also if you are just slamming Benadryl during hay fever season, watch out!!

That symbol is the symbol for commerce not medical the medical has single snake not a double. FYI the military has used it for a long time and I always thought it was till I studied and it turned out the military was wrong. My father was a medic in the military and he was in for 20 plus years and retired and wore that on his uniform and I saw it daily and it was the wrong symbol. Duh! Thanks for the video.

Lot of eBays are fine. But you need to test them several times to be sure. A lot of junk on there as well. And two recommended are worthless on children and dogs. RATs is a good one to keep for those smaller limbs. Basically extra strong tubing. Found out in Iraq/Afghanistan that issue let kids and canine die. Skinny Medic has a good store.

Also it's been years and the rats can't get on the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) approved TQ lists. Again, buy reliable. Yeah sure, your K9 is at risk if LE is around so buy one for your dog if you want, but don't rely on vet supplies to save you unless you absolutely have to. I wanted the rats to be good, I fell for the hype and the fake fraud LLC CTCC "approval" scam. And if you use the something's better than nothing approach, look into the ETQ from snakestaff, smaller than a CAT more useful than a rat. You could just pull the drawstring out of your shorts and get rat results.
