Korinne Sky fled Ukraine when the air-raid sirens went off only to be left traumatised after being forced to endure racism at the border crossing - in contrast to white Ukrainians and their pets.
A second-year medical student from Leicester, Korinne was among hundreds of Black and Asian people whose reports of appalling treatment would paint a picture vastly different from the white fleeing refugees given smooth passage across the border.

I heard a lot of Ukrainians also feel very entitled to help, instead of being grateful. I find it horrible what is happening to those people, but I feel conflicted because if I needed to be saved, they wouldn’t be there.
