This is off topic but as a MA, How do I know which medications I will see in a clinic? Also how many diseases will I see?
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK11 ай бұрын
It’s hard to say because it depends on what type of specialty you work in. If you work in pediatrics you will encounter kids with all types of infections. If you work in GYN, you may see women come in with STIs. If you work in infectious disease, you may see patients with HIV and Hep C. So it really depends on where you work. As far as medications, that also depends on where you work.

Do you have to be smart to be a medical assistant, is there alot of math involved, and what kind of math was on the certification exam
@jessicagrey130611 ай бұрын
You will be just fine, I took the rma amt cert exam it was very easy and common sense. But I also studied alot. (Use the amt study guide) There was only one dosage calculation question on the whole exam. Dont panic you got this ! Its not as hard as you think, theres not alot of math at all in this field❤️
@nonenone35511 ай бұрын
@@jessicagrey1306 thank you , so when u was working as a medical assistant did you actually have to do dosage calculations
@jessicagrey130611 ай бұрын
@@nonenone355 im not gonna lie it depends on the clinic you at, I was in orthropedics and didnt have to any calculations they just showed me what number to fill an injection to in the syringe. And during externship there was no calculations , Alot of drawing blood lol. Not sure what other clinics are doing you kno? But I know that it wont be what you think because thats not a very big skill you need to have in this field.
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK11 ай бұрын
Hey, I agree with Jessica said above... no it's not a lot of math and no you most likely won't do calculations on the job as the provider does that. But we do have to know how to do them just in case. When you're in school they will help you. As far as needing to be smart, I'll just share this with you. I struggled all through school as a child/teenager. But medical assisting was much easier for me because it was mostly hands-on and it was something I loved learning about. Don't worry too much about it. I'm glad you're here on my channel and learning. I'm sure you will be fine :)
