Medication shortages: global risks, national focus, and the role of social media

Medications shortages need to be addressed at the national and international levels, not just by individual health units. That was the key message from Emeritus Professor LLoyd Sansom AO, considered pharmacy ‘royalty’ at #MM2024AdPha. He talked about recent shortages in Australia healthcare, risks arising from the EU and the new Trump administration, how prepared we are for another pandemic, medications self-sufficiency, and how social media is also a new driver of shortages.
