Yeah, just gloss over the side effects of bisphosphonates because “they do not put you in the hospital”. Try weeks of debilitating bone and muscle pain and see if you think they are so minor. good call, though, on not prescribing them at the first sign of osteopenia and minor fracture risk.

Sounds like you've experienced issues with them, and I'm sorry. My mom took them and was fine, but I also experienced problems. I understand. Many people do well with them, and there are others of us who do not.

If you were to interview Dr. Susan Ott, you would find her views concerning Prolia very interesting.

With regards to combination therapy of Forteo and Prolia I believe it’s now known that you lose a lot of bone mass when you stop Prolia. So how do you proceed when combination therapy is stopped?

That's why I do not want to take medications for my osteoporosis. Because I am a nurse, and I know how they work. I am 68, and I have never had a fracture still no fractures. I had lived as much of a clean life as possible. However, my nutrition has never been optimal. I had poor nutrition as a child. As an adult, I have done to myself because of life work demands preventing me from eating enough or skipping lots of meals. In the last 15 years my stress level has increased a lot, and I became less active. Driving up to 4 or more hours a day as a home health nurse, does not leave too much time for anything else. I am trying my best for at minimum stabilizing my condition and prevent progression. I am still able to exercise with minimal or no discomfort. My D3 was very low 2 years ago as my B12. That is resolved in my last labs. I am still working as a part time nurse (I cut my work to allow more time to focus on my health and minimize my stress level and get better sleep. I am trying to continue fracture free for the rest of my life. Any extra advice is greatly appreciated.
