Everyone keeps talking about the girl, but do you see this guy! He's lines are beautiful! That leg extension at the beginning I paused it and just stared in awe! Every movement he made was just breathtaking for me. I am reinspired to dance from watching him. The whole this was beautiful and I've watched it over and over. The lifts! I could go on and on. This was well done and a provoking story.
@kristinsyvertsen8 жыл бұрын
no but, the way he moves. in most dances between a guy and a girl, the guy just usually stands there having to lift the girl, but when he danced, that was when the real show was. I'm getting kinda sick of dancers just using tricks and lifts in their dances, I want to see dancing. and this was well choreographed and the guy moved so well and so fitting to the theme.

Being in recovery from addiction after being hit, ran over and dragged 15ft by a City Bus this…THIS IS…my reality. You see I was in recovery from Meth, 18 months to the day, and I was a dancer. Just started teaching kids hip hop. That night changed my life forever! Already being an addict in recovery saved my life that night as I lost 80% of my blood from that accident. Yet, I became addicted to pain medication. It was my life after that day! I now have 10 pins and 1 plate in my hips holding it all together. I got off the pain medication in 2015! This is how it was for me on meds everyday! Having to choose between quality of life. I’m grateful today I don’t have to live this way anymore! ❤❤❤❤

I think that this is one of those rare times in life where you get to witness something so incredible that words can't even form in your brain because of this incredible event that has unfolded before your eyes. I don't think I will ever look at dance the same way because this was incredible. I look at this and I see not dance but art. Real, incredible, moving, feeling, art. The technique was right up there with the emotional content of the dancers. I am so moved and I always find something to critique and I must admit every flaw is what made it that much more powerful. This was raw, real, grounded, and deeply emotional thank you so much for sharing this with the world.

Was anybody else in freaking tears ? 😨😨😭😭😭😭this had so much depth it was beautiful 😭😭😭 2:50 to the end I feel like it was showing that she loved this person so much that she would do anything to help him so she dove in without fear and was consumed by the same things he was going through 🙁🙁and at 3:27 did u notice how both of them looked like they were trying to portray hanging themselves the swaying motion and limp neck? It really is an amazing dance 😭. It was like after she was in it wholey with him they were suffering together going through the same motions in their minds and what she thought he didn't need "the medicine" she needs it now to and they're falling apart together . idk I just really like this

I see two stories in this dance: 1. Where the woman is the addiction the man is trying to get away from 2. What they intended: a lover who is struggling with her partner's addiction and the person he once was, only to succumb to his demons and dive head first into his addiction. And I think both of these stories have an incredible, lasting message. Just amazing

currently battling an addiction with perscription pills i only started taking because of extreme back pain and now its taken a hold of my life. every day, every minute, every second is about the pill. Im not even necessarily getting high but feeling no pain is the goal and now feeling no withdrawals either. My partner has stood by my side as i battle this and will not give up & im forever grateful. Although sometimes i wish he would so he wouldn't be under so much stress, getting nightmares, lying to his and my family, our friends, taking me back and forth to dr appointments constantly and coming over when im to sick to leave my bed & hold me while i shake & cry from the agonizing & debiltating pain. I can honestly say i just might be dead if it werent for him. i love him so much i can't stand to see this pain i put him through

This is what dance is. Some people are too caught up in how many tricks someone can do, or how many turns they can do. But they don't realise dance is more than that. Dance tells a story, dance makes you feel something. And this piece does that. This is what dance is .

My interpretation: A story about a toxic relationship. The man in this video is someone who is taking advantage of her. She tries to fight it, bring him to reality and change him. However, he continues to infect her w the same levels of toxicity (he has). She stops fighting and stays instead of leaving him, and together they both suffer. In the end, the relationship takes over too much control and she loses everything she was.

This encapsulates the struggle and the heartbreak I had as a young naive girl not realizing the man I loved was hiding a drug adddiction. And I lost him. I found him ODing in his car. By the time I understood what was happening he had already pawned my engagement ring and got enough of what he thought he needed to make him unconscious. I saved him and got him to the hospital. But he wouldnt stop even when he got out. I wasnt enough and he didnt quit. The drugs won. Hes still alive but he killed whoever he was inside that I loved.

Autumn Rae the drugs became who he was. it started off the drug was it's own individual evil, it was his choice but at the end the drugs became his entire identity. I think the matching outfits at the end were like signifying that he had lost himself in his addiction. that's how I interpreted it at least :)

Huh! That's a very interesting interpretation :) I love how everybody has their own idea of what this represents. That makes it a true piece of art.
@deneysiasmith95237 жыл бұрын
I thought that too. but I also thought that their matching outfits at the end was him like slowly dragging her down the hole he was in , leading her to drug addiction as well and when they collapsed it was like they finally realised what had happened and where things had finally lead to

I've watched this video I don't even know how many times at this point. I have cried every single time. This was created and published at a time before the worst part of my life and has been something that has helped to see me through the darkest of times that came since then. This song alone is artistry at it's best adding this brilliant choreography and these 2 outstanding dancers/performers in addition to that is just icing on an already amazing cake! This truly is brilliant in every way I can imagine. The commitment and very clear dedication of these dancers, or everyone involved for that matter, is something that should not go unnoticed. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for creating this for the world to see and allowing yourselves to be vulnerable enough to really tell the story the way that it was meant to be told. I am a dancer, teacher and choreographer myself. Back in the 2014-15 dance season... I created a duet with 2 of my female dancers that I was working with at the time. They were 21 and 16 years old. I had them tell a very similar story. One being an addict, the other being her rock, the support system. It turned out to be one of my greatest pieces that I have ever choreographed and one of the things that I am most proud of in my career. If you're interested in seeing it here's the link... kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHLLhIOfmK1-bZY Choreography for my piece started prior to this video ever being released. If you do decide to watch it, I hope you enjoy it. Thank you!

I saw this years ago and forward three years later still makes me cry. My interpretation is the struggle of mental health. To me it looks like the guy is in pain from the struggle of mental illness and he’s abusing drugs/ alcohol so he’s always numb and can’t really be himself and the girl loves him no matter what because she has seen him at his best, she knows the beautiful mind that he is and in a relationship where someone struggles with depression/suicide combined with drug abuse etc the person that loves you also struggles with you each and every day worrying about you and if you’re seeking help or not and I feel that’s why the woman looks distraught. When she leaps it’s like a leap of faith into their love that she’s willing to go all the way to do anything to help her loved one with his struggle. But at the same time you can be going thru the conditions of bad fights , verbal abuse etc which is why thy are coordinated towards the end doing the same dance. It’s not healthy for both. Because help is not being seeked. It reminds me of younger couples too not having the resources to get help or admitting you need help.
@michibelle97287 жыл бұрын
My late husband killed himself, and I relate this to the relationship with a suicidal person. The wardrobe, dance, all of it, shows the mental breakdown of both, including the person trying to help in such a battle. I've watched this over and over now... "You can still be what you want to".

@fitariflair7 жыл бұрын
Marie Hamel lol it's been a year but I still want to drop my 2 cents. At my high school we have one of the better dance programs in the district, we have a Dance Team and actual dance classes. I'm on the dance team and our purpose is to entertain audiences at foot ball games and to keep spirits up, so telling a story isn't a goal but we still entertain the crowd and everyone enjoys our dancing. Class is when we get to tell a story and have emotional dances that leave the audience and dancers alike in tears. Both are dancing, both are still challenging for their own rights. For team you have to keep tempo to quick music and hit all your movements at the same time as the rest of a team, not to mention bruised toes from jazz shoes. Class you have to be able to remember choreo AND preform with your emotions and soul in order to impress the audience and elicit an emotional response. Both are still "real dance"
@tatumberry6867 жыл бұрын
Just thought I'd also put in my 2 cents as a 7 year dancer for my middle and high school teams. From personal experience I can promise you that we told stories while we danced. Yes there are dances performed at football games or basketball games and pep rallies, which is to boost morale and entertain. We call this Pom. But we also performed jazz, which had a varied theme and story every year. We also compete every year with our schools from our state as well as schools and studios across the nation. We get to experience hundreds of teams performing any number of dance styles from jazz to pom to kick to hip hop to lyrical and contemporary and so on. Some dances have the sole purpose of entertainment, and some tell stories. It's dependant on the choreographers intent and the performance of the dancer(s). Not all art has a message. Some artist create solely for satisfaction. Don't discredit ALL high school dance teams because their performance didn't seem to have a goal beyond entertaining the crowd. There are plenty of schools doing multiple styles of dance every single year and many of those dances tell elaborate stories. This competition season alone, I have so far seen 15 separate schools perform dances telling 15 different stories, and some of those schools are performing 2-3 routines that each tell their own story.

I love this piece so much....really pulls me into their world. I can't even count how many times I have seen this dance, and have listened to this song even more. I lost my brother to addiction and most of my family have been addicts so it hits close to home

It's my first time watching this dance, and I am glad my colleague recommended it. It was heartfelt and relatable! It's a masterpiece! A work of art! The message transcended through their choreography! There is depth, and the storytelling is beyond imaginable! It is mesmerizing! The girl represents a lot of things! This masterpiece was like the voice in my head. They showed the things I wanted to say. TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS NOT GOOD! We should learn how to balance things out, and DEPENDENCY will never be the solution. Remember that things and people do come and go, and sooner or later, they will leave you, so don't depend on other people, things, or actions just to be happy.

This is the best dance I have ever seen. This inspired me so much. I understood it instantly and I love this so much. The guy starts to become addicted and the girl try's everything to stop him and then the girl become addicted and they both die like that's very deep. That's why I love dance because it's not all just about a couple moves, there emotion and ability to do all those things take practice. They don't just know how to do it. They put emotion and powerfulness in this dance and it's absolutely amazing. This dance made me cry and it was very touching💕

Feels like addiction and an addict - dancing with a love that kills... But it's only us - beautiful, longing, tragic... Living and dying either way. Sometimes it seems black and white... but coming clean is getting whole - Deep-down, tender, for real.
