The shaving of heads was a punishment and the reason they leave sidelock was a loophole around Caesars/Roman Catholic Church punishment. The actual mention if you hold your sidelock was about who all had long hair and long beards therefore all had sidelocks. Egpytians and Romans shaved, not Israelites. Also one personal observation:. In the States, you can find out someone is Jewish long after you know them whereas in Canada they mention it early on as a disclaimer, which is weird, like a cultural code of conduct as to not misrepresent identity.

No discussion of medieval antisemitism can ignore the fact that Jews consistently allied themselves powerful lords and magistrates and typically worked as money lenders and tax collectors. It also a myth that Jews were always forced into these lines of work because they weren't allowed to own land. The Oxford Handbook of the Economics of Religion states that Jews "whether in Narbonne in 899 or Gironne in 922, in Trier in 919 or Worms in 1090, in Barcelona in 1053 or Toledo in 1222, or in early medieval England, were permitted to acquire and own land if they wished. Not only were Jews legally permitted to own land, they could acquire significant amounts. They preferred to hire tenants, sharecroppers, and wage laborers to work their lands. For themselves, they chose the most skilled and profitable occupations, foremost money lending."

@@YB7517167 Reading his comment, I don't think Ruaritrick is denying that Jews were, at times, subjected to a range of discriminatory regulations. Rather, he is saying that the claim that Jews were forbidden to own land in medieval Europe is a myth. According to Ruaritrick's sources, this was not a restriction Jews were universally bound by (if it even happened at all). The source you cited (Wikipedia) does not contradict Ruaritrick's assertion. Indeed, I skimmed through the article, and as of 12/07/19, it does not appear to mention land ownership at all. It mentions dress codes, restrictions on religious practice, prohibitions against immigration*, and even offers some extensive counterpoints detailing the rights and guarantees Jews enjoyed in Poland - but nothing on land ownership. @@sidvicious6505 wrong citizens had rights it's a status you should read what citizenship means. It is true that most lands were held by the noble class (in other words all lands were technically owned by the kingdom, country, territory, state, province). Farming on any land was a right of the citizens (the most common job of that era). And only citizens had a right to be represented in a court of law (governing powers protection which may have prevented the purge, massacre and pogroms). All the rights you gave for example were in fact after the emancipation, so they can't be examples of Jews having rights prior to the emancipation. I don't think censorship is ever the answer. Censorship merely plays into (one might argue, _justifies?)_ the fears which "the Other" harbour about Jews and pro-semites. If their facts are wrong, correct them. If their arguments are flawed, offer more compelling ones. After all, what is "bad" about anti-semitism? What is it we object to, really? It's not that we object to anti-semitism on the grounds that it is an attack on Jewish exceptionalism and/or Jewish in-group preference (this reading of anti-anti-semitism is, I'd argue, thoroughly anti-semitic!) Rather, when we object to anti-semitism, we are objecting to the view that certain groups might claim it is their right and their duty, to "clean" the "putrid" elements out of their society. We object to systems which state that, rather than respecting a dialectical coexistence with the Other, those who wield Power (the censor-state, the censor-church, the censor-comment/curator) should simply purge that which they deem problematic and distasteful. "Cleaning up the putrid"... hmmm, where have we heard that before?

That's just redefining religion to exclude the political aspect all religions have always had, in an effort to avoid feeling blamed. Throughout the medieval period Christianity was a theocratic empire, thus its political actions are not just what "people do with religion" but what the religion actually is. I don't believe in taking on cultural guilt, Christianity has changed significantly over two millennia, but pretending it transcends the abuses sanctioned in its name is a dishonest position.

In all 4 gospels, it is ultimately the Romans who kill him. In 3 of them, the Jews are not really involved in his death, at least not in any collective way. The pharisees and Sadducees raise concerns about Jesus to Pilate, but they were specific sects of Judaism, not representative of all Jews. Even then, they do not directly ask for him to be executed, and are not involved in the decision. Matthew is the one gospel where a mob of Jews are assigned some collective blame, but Pilate still orders the execution, and Roman soldiers are the ones to torture him.

There's lots of issues in the UK with race and anti-Semitism but leaving the country isn't the answer. Neither is trying to downplay it.

@@brumafriend You could try screeching about it, and accusing strangers of it, and see if that helps or makes it worse. I'm guessing most innocent people don't like being accused of wrongthink - even if they don't agree there is such a thing. Moral grandstanding is a tough sell. The pity strategy worked for a while, but that seems to be going by the wayside in lieu of this new power grab. I don't think most people care about Jews one way or another - if that's anti-Semitism, then maybe it is rampant after all. If someone you don't give a damn about starts making a fuss and demanding that you give them special treatment because your culture and race is collectively to blame for a tiny minority of people who have arguably bad ideas, are you going to bow down and do anything they say? I'm not.

@John Johnson - Why is it ok to criticise European Christians as being EVIL/ANTI-SEMITIC/BIASED/BAD but not ok to criticize other groups? Are you not a nationalist, John? So what are you an internationalist? A Globalist? Do you care at all about the destruction of unique cultures?

@John Johnson - Oh but they rebelled against Rome many times slaughtering whole towns and villages. They still celebrate the rejection of Greek culture and the slaughter of thousands of Greeks. "Cyprus. In Cyprus a Jewish band under a leader named Artemion took control of the island, killing tens of thousands of *Cypriot Greek civilians* The Cypriot Jews participated in the great uprising against the Romans under Trajan (117), and massacred 240,000 Greeks" Also "They founded the Hasmonean dynasty, which ruled from 167 BCE to 37 BCE, being a fully independent kingdom from about 110 to 63 BCE. They reasserted the Jewish religion, partly by forced conversion, expanded the boundaries of Judea by conquest and reduced the influence of Hellenism and Hellenistic Judaism."

Luke 23:27-29, Matt 27:25 Satan hated the Jews so much bec of their faithfulness to God, Jesus the promised Savior of the world, was born from their race. However, God had temporarily withheld His protection upon them, bec they roughly took responsibility for Jesus death, not knowing His TRUE identify, and had not thought of how much they will suffer as consequence. It's just so sad that Satan was able to use Christians out of ignorance. We should have remembered that Jesus has forgiven them.

@paul The Gnostic The Jews are still upholding the Torah, that's why they are longing to rebuild the Temple where God dwelt among the Jews. IF God knows the end from the beginning, why would He made the covenant to Abraham that He will be the God of His descendants through Isaac, Israel, everlasting, if He knew He will reject them at the end?, Genesis 17:7. Unless you people believe that it's not true God knows the future, that He must change what He declared. Isaiah 46:9-10, Numbers 23:19

I try to distinguish a "religion" and or "religious" entity from the actions of its members and followers. If we look at the Catholic church in the Middle Ages, I feel like we see a variety of peoples who did wonderful and terrible things for their own gain and or due to their interpretation of "religious" teachings. Even as an Atheist I try to distinguish an idea from an action if that makes sense?

What is a shill?
@thorthelionkingodinson43854 жыл бұрын
@@cavramau a schill is a useless idiot flunky of the bolshevik/zionist Central banking cabal and it is one of two varieties. It is basically a knowing or willing servant to the evil globalist while the other variety is what is called a cuckt and this kind of useful idiot is not willing or knowing and is utterly ignorant about just about everything going on and the geopolitical world and the conspiracy world. A cuckt goes about his day-to-day business completely oblivious to the fact that his actions are helping to enslave the world and commit genocide on all non-slave and nonsematic races specifically all Aryan European people. This guy is much too knowledgeable about matters especially being historian to follow in any but the first category. Also he has made multiple videos talking about anti-semitism and such and any comments directed towards him that say even the slightest thing about the central bankers or the Bolsheviks being Jewish or the balfor declaration or the fact that the Rockefellers Carnegie the bank of England and the Rothschild family and JP Morgan funded a large part of the Bolshevik revolution and were instrumental in bringing America into the first world war and engineering the second world war and inventing the Holocaust. It's funny because many things that are absolute truth and mainstream knowledge are called anti-semitic when spoken of and whenever someone calls anything anti-Semitic you can bet your ass that he is usually a schill because a cuckt wouldn't know the difference. Don't get me wrong I am not anti-semitic at all I love Arabs and Babylonians and Canaanites and Phoenicians and Assyrians! Actually there are many Jewish people that I love and have great respect for also but that doesn't change the fact that the majority of the worst atrocities ever committed upon humanity we're caused an engineered by people who were of Jewish descent whether the majority of the world knows it or not. the majority of the transatlantic slave trade was owned by these people and so was all the golden diamond mines of Africa and it is funny cuz white Europeans are blamed for colonialism and Germans are called so racist yet Germans never had one African slave to my knowledge. And most of the Jews that were supposedly persecuted during world war II were of German descent. That's what Ashkenazi are! Do a little research into the subject and you'll be very surprised by what the truth really is because it's nothing like what they tell you at all. Just think of it this way who are the ones who dropped the atomic weapons upon cities full of women and children? I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Nazis! And 60 million Europeans died in world war II alone and added to the 40 million that perish because of the Bolshevik revolution and the 20 million in world war I that's over a hundred million Europeans who perished in the 1900s yet they try to force everyone to focus upon the 1.8 million Jews who died which states lie and say was 6 million to such an extent that it's illegal to even speak out against this in many European nations. The truth does not need this protection only lies would need a protection of this nature. Think about it.
