New style of video today. My webcam isn't the best and it's the first time I've recorded a video in this way, so it's a little rough in places, but please, let me know what you think.

those silly games where you collect virtual land seems symbolic for whats actually going on behind the scenes. big tech companies are digital spaces, the site is a carving out of an area, then you can participate by congregating. reminded also of the chappelle skit of a VR mall. the website or app is a place and the members are new serfs or merchants or visitors

I couldn't agree more! The Chappelle comparison is very appropriate.

I think there's an argument for life under feudalism being better; the medieval peasants would know their lord personally and often dine at their table or in their hall. I will never know Bezos, Musk or Gates personally and I will never dine at their table or be able to influence their ideas and visions.

You raise a valid point about the personal connections of the past. While it's true that feudal lords were more accessible, let's not romanticize the past - it was harsh and unrelenting. Today’s economy seems to be recreating many of the inequalities of medieval life, where so many workers lack security and autonomy, trapped in a cycle that benefits a few at the top.

@@Somewhat_Scientific Not trying to romanticize the past - merely saying that our modern system in some ways is even worse than the feudal one which it gets compared to or that we are warned that we are headed towards.

Ah okay. I agree. It is, at least in my opinion, a very troubling path that we are on that could end up being far worse for many people.

I feel like ai is going to have a huge impact on the gig economy.
@Somewhat_ScientificКүн бұрын
Absolutely. They'll call it 'streamlining' or something, but it will ultimately mean less pay for workers and more profit for corporations.

not just gig workers, 9-5workers are not much better either
@Somewhat_ScientificКүн бұрын
Unfortunately, all too true. All workers are getting squeezed.
