Medina market tour (Fez) with official guide from the Moroccan tourism office - a review and advice

Advice on taking the medina market tour in Fez (Fes), Morocco. We took a tour with an official guide from the Moroccan tourism office and paid €25 (250 Moroccan Dirhams) for a 4 to 5 hour tour. While many of the places we intended to see were closed, we still enjoyed the tour despite being seen as a walking dollar sign. We also made many mistakes during our time in Fez which included trusting locals who told us where to go, being friendly when asked questions, and filming without a local person with us. This is the oldest traditional marketplace in Africa (we are told) and it still operates mostly in a similar way as in its former years.
