The "scope" on the gun is a recoil tube that helps slow down and lessen the recoil from the gun firing
@MediocreHobbies Жыл бұрын
Ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks for sharing that!
@beninthehills8155 Жыл бұрын
@@MediocreHobbies As an addendum, if you look at the super popular AK series rifle, the gas tube* (not recoil tube) captures a portion of the trapped gas and moves the bolt backwards; simultaneously ejecting a spent round, whilst chambering a new one. In the case of field artillery, it's used to eject the spent shell-casing from the rear, as the barrel themselves are reciprocating and therefor reduce recoil. Source: American who works on guns.

I love the models. Only thing that bugs me is that the Malleus Missile Launcher looks the coolest and like some type of indirect mortar, but instead it's a direct line of fire gun. I don't like it when the appearance of a model doesn't match its function on the battlefield. GW is usually good about this.

These are really cool kits. In the UK they are £25 for the pair which is good value I reckon. I can see myself ending up with dozens of these eventually as you can make each diarama totally unique. I was put off by the huge bases initially - but as they stay out of the way where there's space it's not an issue. The big base gives you so many possibilities to customise with extra bits etc.....I would never get bored of building and painging these I doubt. The normal heavy weapon teams kits were great fun to customise but these are a level up!!

It annoys me more than it should, that you put loader/ammunition on right side of the gun and not on the left... :D If they load from the right then the screen is in the way, and they have to move around it. If they load from the left, they have free access to the barrel. Also it looks like loader holding the shell has a pose that would suggest that he would steer the shell into the chamber with his left arm and push it in with his right arm, so again it will be either really awkward from the left side of the gun or he has to go around it...
