For anyone who didn't understand why I said what I said if you bring aggressive creatures to the infected spider it will attack them once you leave and they will fight then later sneak back to the fight area and steal the loot

True I managed to kill my first infected wolf spider by having it fight a normal wolf spider therefore getting it to a lower health to where I could just come in and finish it off

You don’t need to start a new save when the update is officially released. An update patch was put out for that issue.

My friend turned off haze in my game and i was surprised to find one near my base (high in oak tree but has stairs) i literally SCREAMED at how high an infected jumps.

it's not actually infected, I think it just had a spawnpoint there before the haze was added, could be wrong though. It would be cool if they made it an infected wolf spider

So how deadly is this thing? ive really been considering plugging my haze recently, during the public test i realized i wasn't 100% prepared for the test server so i have decided to revert back and just grind resources until its in full release. the reason ive been considering plugging the haze is because the quartzite in there would be much easier to get. But i would like to know how strong the wolf spider is before i plug it and regret it.

If you're on Woah difficulty, the explosions in it's attacks all one-shot you and they're impossible to avoid. It's not super deadly if you have on full Roly Poly, Mithridatism AND Spicy Safety for the explosions, but generally they're moody stronger than regular wolf spiders. Also, Mint Mace is the best weapon against them as far as I know

@@AlphaSeagull Thanks! im on medium and with roly poly armor, i have maxed mint mallet so it should be a good fight but i also should be able to take it out. Just wondering if you have tried a minty greatsword? i assume the spider would still retain its weapon weakness

Do you think there will be other consequences for plugging the haze? Since it was Wendell and BURGL that had created the hole in the weed killer can to prevent the spread.

Yes there is, infected insects are spreading and normal insects just walk into the haze without problem some insect gonna explode a lot of grass and terain outside the haze. Thats way we dont plug gum into the hole. I hope they just add an infected spider in the haze itself someday.

I think plugging the Haze is going to be part of the story so at some point it will have to be done but maybe there will also be a way to get rid of or cure the infected stuff that spreads.

@@MediocreMilton that’s kind of what I was thinking too. I can see them possibly going back and adding more to this once the story is further along. Similar to how they went back and changed so that the haze lab now powers up the resource scanners.. maybe they will go back and make it so plugging up the weed killer has more than one affect on the backyard.

@@MellaniePlays There's a wolf spider and spiderlings in a cave inside the haze, though the haze doesn't actually go down into the cave proper so the spider stays alive (easy to lure the spiderlings out into the haze and watch them pop though)

I killed the infected spider but I used a level 5 crossbow and I stood on top of a branch with 46 needle arrows and kept shooting it until it died, hope th is helps some people

all infected insects will attack any non infected insect (but from what i have seen the infected wolf spider under the tree will only attack the normal wolf spider if they hit each other while attacking something else) and an infected wolf spider will spawn under the shed's deck

I'm new to the game love it, it reminds me of honey I shrunk the kids, anyway I built my primary base right at the ock lab entrance... if it's super aggressive would u guy suggest I relocate my base or plug up the holes that go under the ock tree to box the wolf spider in?

I just found the spider last night on a save that I had already plugged the haze on prior to the update… It took about 10-15 days for it to show up, probably because I live on the stones next to the pond and the render distance was preventing it from spawning, as it does with the small patch of grass nearby. Completely unexpected, and rest assured it messed me up pretty bad.

They put a patch out last night and I think it fixed the Infected Spider not spawning on old worlds so if you plugged the Haze or do so in the future they will now be in your game.

I made a reddit post going into detail about this on r/groundedgame, but basically his moveset is the same, plus he gets the 3-hit attack that the orb weavers normally have. Furthermore, the jumping attack and the added 3-hit combo both have explosions added to it. The explosions can't be blocked or perfect blocked with or without a Shield, and they all one-shot you no matter what armor you're wearing on Woah difficulty. However, Spicy safety works on explosions so you can survive them when having this on

The Wolf Spider in this game is bad enough without being infected too. Not going to lie, that thing sneaking up on me in the dark one time and me not knowing it was there until I turned around and it started screaming at me with those big red eyes, have I ever about jumped out of my gaming chair. If I had had to piss at that moment, I probably would have went right there, no lie.

You know what would be cool if they had actual horse hair worms inside the infected bugs. I’m not sure if most people would know what they are but basically they take over the insects body. Imagine being able to craft some “infected” weapons from that. I think it’d be a neat idea that would work for the survival theme of the game.

Spoilers are contained for the storyline of grounded The only problem with that is that the infection isn't a parasite, it is a fungus mutated with the raw science particles left behind by objects when shrunken down. Dr. Wendell Tully created it as mentioned in the research logs. The infection is freed by patching up the weed killer, also allowing infected bugs to spread the spores farther. The wolf spider eats an infected bug and becomes infected from doing so. I do like the idea about infected weapons or armor or tools, but i feel like it should be the infected pieces themselves that make it

i believe the fungus is a reference to zombie fungus. similar story to the horse hair worms ants and whatever else is unlucky enough to forage through the spores find themselves lose their minds. from memory the fungus effectively makes the ant or fly go out of its way to get killed by its predators in order to spread the spores further.

I really wish that turning off the haze actually did something to benefit you in some way. Like unique loot off those infected insects that weren't in the hazy area to start with, unlocking a path to some other area that couldn't be accessed at all while the haze was active or something. Just making the insects more difficult doesn't really entice me to turn it off. Not to mention that I kindof like the atmosphere of the haze. :/

The worst part is that it respawns after only two days, it constantly walks around killing everything in sight, and its almost impossible to kill or fight. I wish you could reset the haze by doing something like the console debug menu.

I built my base in the tree next to Burgles lab, just walled off the entrance to the spiders and called it home. A grass wall was all it took till this bugger moved in and now every bug invasion he comes knocking down walls to join the party. I had to kill him one to many times and upgraded my walls to weed x3 behind me with some traps in between and just for good measure blocked all other entrances and trapped him inside. So much more peaceful now in my cozy little tree base, but he's constantly complaining behind the walls. Convenient having zip lines to and from the upper yard and sap taps in my living room.

Hahahaha I set up my base in that wolf spider den in the oak tree so every time I go out on adventures, they respawn when I come back so I technically had a wolf spider farm. I started to search for milk molars so I went to the haze and to make it easier I plugged up the haze. I come back to base to find an aggressive wolf spider on crack walking around so now I have to try and gather all my shit then find another place to move in. (I like to build off of the natural structures)

There is no benefit only negatives affects. All infected insects are gonna walk throughout the whole map. And normale insects gonna walk into the haze. The infected exploding insect gonna fight and bombarding everything. And so a lot of grass is gonna be destroyed by explodes.

I would plug the haze in my world, but I much prefer how it is. As it is now, the haze and all the monstrosities inside it are confined to that region - nothing gets in, because they die when they try, and nothing gets out, because nothing that gets in manages to make it back out to lure haze creatures out. If it's plugged, on the other hand, there's no patches of gas or whatnot, there's just bits of fungus as the other bugs get in and out and the haze creatures proliferate. Plus, the atmosphere within the haze, with the massive gas-filled trenches, the yellowed sunlight, the border formed from all the bugs who tried to enter, and the music, is really much better.
