There is nothing more punk than criticising punk. One of the earliest anarcho-punk songs, "Punk is Dead" by Crass, is a scathing critique of the punk culture of the time and a declaration that punk in its original form had run its course and become an aesthetic rather than a force for change.

I am an old punk, 56 yrs old and this is hilarious. Its also hilarious that the first gen of punks are senior citizens and the first gen of hardcore punks that survived are about to be senior citizens over the next 5 years. We are....like...old now. We might be crap at a lot of stuff but we make great single dads.

Cheers to y’all doing the follow-up to having kids. Sorry y’all have to do it alone. I never wanted and never spawned kids (37, vasectomy ✂️) but realizing that I didn’t know very many people working under the table to “not fund war,” but knew uncomfortably many not funding child support, bummed me out hard core. Three cheers for the mammalian minimum!

Some of the best advice I ever got was, "You're not hardcore just because you wake up early to spike your hair." A torn-up vest and jeans hanging on by a thread doesn't make you punk rock. The clothes you wear don't make art. You really want to be a punk, treat everyone with kindness and respect even when the world doesn't give it back to you, because punks are actually nice people pretending to be mean.

Some ppl like doing the battle jacket and crust pants or goth looks, but a lot of ppl just dress normal/in current trends like Frankie mentioned. The younger kids who keep joining like to dress up but not usually in the 70s/80s punk aesthetic. Doc martins are still popular tho lol The bands here have a wide variety of subgenres but if you ask me punk is more than anything about the DIY aspect, making art just to make it, and a pro working class/anti oppression attitude. Moshing is fun too.

some of these people do genuinely have a visual reaction to what you're saying and that's the funniest part of it.

You forgot Flogging Molly's or Dropkick Murphys fans. I bailed when their set opened with a spotlight on a guy sitting in a chair playing the bagpipes.

1:47 I got stopped by the police with some of my best mates a few years back. I'd stopped dressing punky years ago but my mates were still in the full on leathers and spikey hair. One of the cops said to me "Compared to them you look like a Young Conservative." That still makes me smile 😉

God I love this format. Watching amateurs corpsing and wondering whether he drops character to arrange the shots or whether they only experience him in Frankie mode

I violently and severely love these cultural observations, as a recent discoverer of punk fashion, that allows me to funnel my creative output into a productive and material source (clothing) wilst also allowing me to indirectly voice my anti-government and anti-corperatianism ideologies. Pun(fashion) is great, lol. Thank you Frankie :DDD
