Thank you! I'm also looking forward to doing something different. Hopefully it works out!

Nice job and A+ for the use of recycled material. There are so many cool things to shoot Macro, I'm glad to see you doing both. You need to tag your bio teacher in this video :)

one tip there is a book by Ernst Weilde called " The Hasselblad Manual" it has many editions from 1980-2008 and maybe more, but the rear section of this has all the charts showing everything from focus distance, magnification, dof range, but also there are stand alone 'nonagrams' included with the 'basic' tubes, as you have, and one for the e tubes, for the electronic bodies, even though they ALL fit each other interchangeably.

That’s an excellent tip, thank you! I’ll need to find a copy. Appreciate the info!

@@MrNegative this is a little rare, aka you won't just stumble accross it in a book store (dymocks), but have to go to the desk and ask for it, special order from the printers; but it is a worthy purchase, if nothing else, it allows one some "gear porn" over the H-system and it's stuff ( the later book editions, of coarse, as Digital didn't evolve till 2000's 🙂) .

Ordered a fourth edition. Can’t wait to get it and give it a read. Somehow I think it’s going to lead to more purchases in the future… :) thanks again for the tip!!

Diopters set, 50 dollars. Step down rings, a few dollars. There you go. You can shoot macro without having to spend a fortune on a macro lens. Now you just have the pain of having to swap filters until you get accustomed to what diopter strength works for what subject and at what focus distance. If you're going to try it just as a warning diopters are really difficult to shoot with and your working distance is very short so a way to translate forward an backward movement via maybe moving your camera back and forward on a long camera plate is very important to have.

Great tips, thank you. Agree some type of slide would be extremely helpful with the narrow depth of field. I’ll give it a shot next time!

@@MrNegative I got a diopter set that is +1, +2, +4, & +10. +2 covers me when I need to get just a little bit closers for general things. +4 covers me when I need to get extra close but not crazy close. +10 covers me when I want to get like extremely close. Think having the subject so close that it is half an inch away from the front of the diopter. To the point where you almost start to block the light hitting the subject due to block the subject with the lens. The +10 diopter is crazy looking, it's like a fishbowl. All with a 80mm which probably is not the best lens but it does work surprisingly.

What would be the advantage of shooting with the diopters instead of using the extension rings on the 80mm?

@@MrNegative Diopters are cheaper. Diopters can be matched to any lens on any camera. Extension tubes have a similar effect as diopters but if you want to use them on a different camera with a different mount you have to keep buying new extension tubes. The best solution is a dedicated Macro lens, then it is reverse mounting an existing lens, then it is diopters imo. But it all comes down to how much you want to spend and how important Macro shots are you to. I have a box of about 15 different filters as they are useful to me: Variable ND 1 to 6 stop Straight ND 2 Stop Straight ND 10 stop Polarizer Red color Green Color Blue Color Infrared R72 UV cut 4x diopters etc.
