I wonder why did Russia`s stop mediumwave transmitting? In the past, it was easily received in Korea.
@cckadlec
@cckadlec 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was a real sad time! I started recording these stations in 2015 and just missed all the Russian signals. Though I was living in Korea since 2009, I was doing all my FM projects since then. I could have been listening to AM and had recorded all the Russian signals too. My guide (there is a link in the description) does include the frequencies and locations of the old Russian signals and the map includes them too, but I never got to hear them. Very disappointed... ㅠㅠ I think they just wanted to save money. Probably not enough people were listening. Like with North Korea, it was probably cheaper and easier to use smaller FM signals, like they did with turning off 1053 and 1080 in 해주 and replacing them with the FM signals like 89.4, 93.6, and 97.0, etc. The FM signals also are harder to jam than the AM ones. But Russia didn't have the same problem.

I don't really believe it's a real song. This has been the filler music for CRI for a long time, similar to a station jingle that is made just for them.

@cckadlec
@cckadlec 3 жыл бұрын
Yup, that is the Seoul jammer of 1053 that is 10 km. from my radio. I was able to find a hole in it to pick up Yanbian, which is not easy. Because 1053 Haeju (North Korea) turned off for good in the months after this, the Seoul jammer is no longer there and it's more open to listen to.

Well done, and if you put this in Jeju Island South Korea. Can you actually reach the Philippines radio Dx From that location in South Korea? In the Philippines if you did this at Batanes Island Might be able to get Jeju Island South Korea Even though you're closer to Taipei Taiwan. And Fujian Province People's Republic of China.
@cckadlec
@cckadlec 3 жыл бұрын
I could imagine honestly, that yes, if I had listened in Jeju, I would have been able to hear much further south because of the salt water and little to nothing between Jeju and the islands to the south. But in Seoul, the salt water, which helps AM signals propagate quite far, is to the west, so it's all China China China.

@@cckadlec thank you for telling me and I'm wondering if it's actually possible for Dxing from South Korea to reach Manila Philippines 1620 miles to the South
@cckadlec
@cckadlec 3 жыл бұрын
@@EpicThe112 Since I only did FM on the south coast (I have another project of hearing Japanese FM signals from Korea, which was easier for my trip plans than AM, which is reallllly hard to DX clearly), we will never know. But I'm sure along the southwest coast, away from Japan, a few stations surely can come in from the Philippines. But I cannot confirm. If you want to hear Korea from Manila, the high-powered jammers are a good place to start (some were turned off), 1566 Jeju obviously. The highest power stations like 603, 972, etc.

@cckadlec 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would hope so!! When I recorded this, KBS was my local station and is 1,500kw but even in Seoul, I could still hear Henan on most nights underneath it. People exclaim that 1,500kw is just crazy, but... in East Asia, it doesn't stop a 100kw station from still being heard even 50km from the powerful station!

2:10 is this Chinese country music?
@Commander_HW
@Commander_HW 3 жыл бұрын
hi chinese here. that's not chinese country music, that's Traditional Chinese opera. Think of it has the chinese version of broadway show has been there 5000 thousand of years ago. Also, there is no country music genre in China, people in rural areas don't have their own style of music, but they do have their own style of stand up comedies.
@cckadlec
@cckadlec 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with H W (who is Chinese and obviously a good person to answer this!), but only partially. Chinese opera is heard on stations in China that identify as rural stations (农村广播, 乡村广播, 戏曲广播)... usually stations geared toward rural people or older people, like "Rural Radio," or even "Opera Radio" that young people are less likely to listen to because it's from a generation they didn't grow up in. I realize there is a double meaning for the word "Country" in English though, so YES, this IS Chinese country music (meaning countryside, rural music), but obviously not country music like the American genre, which there is no comparison to in China. But at the same time, this is Chinese opera, as he says. It's more of a historical performance sort of genre and isn't *specifically* rural music. But I always heard this music on rural, farmer's, and elderly stations, but not the more modern music stations and less in the city than rural towns.

What was happening on 945? Christian radio?
@cckadlec
@cckadlec 3 жыл бұрын
945 is CNR-1, run by the Chinese government. They include programs that teach English or tell stories, etc., and in this case, they are explaining the English sentences and translating them into Chinese. One could think it is a religious station, but it just happens to include that phrase, which is heard in a lot of things in English.
