I’m a patient who has one of these to help regulate excess C.S.F that I have, as a result of successful, and extensive neurosurgery. Thanks for posting this.

I always wondered exactly how these valves functioned. Thankyou medtronic for this detailed video explanation.

I have this. Had to get after 11 shunt failures. And have had to readjust the pressure several times since the setting changed on its own. Which is not supposed to do. Setting is currently at highest setting Been there six months. I was originally at 1.5 and it moved to 2.5 on itself. My surgeon is at Danville geisinger and is literally the top neurosurgeon in Pennsylvania. Was originally seeing a neuro in Williamsport but after the 3 failure and revision as well as a meningitis infection i was sent to danvile. My shunt emptied into my gallbladder but was removed and rerouted to my rib area when i needed a gallbladder removed. Was told im his most complex case. Currently monitored and have xrays every six months and an mri either every two years or if ive had issues

Is this valve MRI-compatible, or would the magnetic field break it?
@brainartgirl218 ай бұрын
It is compatible but it may change the settings. I had an MRI.. it was ok but changed my settings.. You should have your settings checked after an MRI
