The Medvedev's chosen umpire instead Tsitsipas or his father. He yelled enough loud to be heard by both (opponent and his father), if he decided to yell at the opponent it would be worse. Umpire should do his job to avoid such a situation. The ATP should think how to avoid similar cheating. For instance, disqualifying to visit matches by people like the father of Tsitsipas. Anyway, one player is always cheating (Tsitsipas is always doing it) and someday another player might be angry.

On the other hand, the umpire completely lost control over the match by letting medvedev offend him in that manner without having any consequences for medvedev. The umpire's attitude was disrespectful related to Medvedev's game by letting Ttsitsipa's father couch during the match. It is hard to attitude respectfully if another person does not respect you (in this case umpire started it), simple psychology.

Once again, the Father loses the match for his Son. It's like a local park tournament with a Tennis parent getting out of control. Pretty soon the day will come out of frustration of losing yet another semi or final, Tsitsipas will ask the umpire to eject his father from the stadium. I must add, the umpiring at this AO has been abysmally poor. Frankly, it's no wonder Shapovalov said what he said.

What is the future of such umpires? The whole world can see what is going on. Stefanos becomes his father’s hostage and complice in breaking rules, I bet even against his will …maybe. Nevertheless it looks like bad sportsmanship. I don’t justify Meddy’s outburst …but gosh I can understand him. My question WHAT HAPPENS TO THIS UMPIRE?

I can certainly understand Medvedev here. I have the same exploding temper ). Shouting at umpire was certainly rude, but I can understand his anger. Considering that the crowd was clearly against him and then umpire did nothing - easy to see where all this coming from. As a public figure he should work on his anger management though.

And Tsitsipas is a student of Moratoglou who advocates for a drastic change in pro tennis: in his opinion coaching should be allowed and even with a coach right on the court. And he thinks that this would boost tennis to new heights. In my opinion it would take away one decisive attractive and very unique aspect of tennis, in the long tradition of a gentleman sport. I don't know how you guys think about it. But I love watching how different characters cope with stress and handle situations or decide on their very own how to vary tactics and shot selection. The Big Three had such great success not just because of their great technical skills but because they have the right mindset. I don't want to watch technically perfect players who just fulfill a drill like a robot and do what the coach has just told them a minute ago. It might be different in boxing or team sports. In soccer or other teamsports the role of the team manager might be an attractive aspect to observe. But in tennis? Never!

What a fucking dude! My respect and administration increased buckets loads after this. I always felt he was robotic and arrogant but he isn’t & still went on to win the match. Also, his post AO final interview I had even more respect for him. He’s human like the rest of us but that steel and heartfelt determination is lost of most of us. Since ‘95 I always wanted to visit Roland Garros and saw Medvedev today. Cheered him on and saw a masterclass in tennis. So put you sheepish anti-Russian commie bollocks to one side and be thankful the game has a player like him. Bravo Daniil. I’m a fan of yours for life. Respect from 🇮🇪!! 🎾🤟🙌💪
