An abnormal cardiac rhythm that results from the failure of the sinoatrial node to conduct or produce action potentials. This leads to the intermediate pause of a cardiac cycle followed by an escape beat or the continuation of normal sinus rhythm.

Probably because they learned through memorization and not concept; so they don't actually understand the "Why".... I'm currently having same issues with getting tele certified

As much as I used to be interested in being an EMT, I used this video to make a concept for a Rhythm Doctor level (a new game around heart rhythm and defibrillation medicine and awesome music). Thank you for putting this into terms anyone can understand.

I'm reminded of an old phrase, concerning blocks/arrests. "You can walk around the BLOCK, but not if you're under ARREST." The block's P waves, even the absent one, will march out.

The second is not a sinus arrest its a junctional escape beat
@arianks7668
@arianks7668 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Quick question: In junctional escape rhythm, while we don't have a P-wave when the post-sinus arrest QRS is produced, we apparently have P-waves in the beats after that. If the SA node is at arrest, can we explain how these normal looking P-waves are produced?

Does the SA node beat from 60-80 bpm or 60-100 bpm? All my NHA books list seem to list 100 bpm as the top end.

How dangerous is a sinus arrest? Could this lead to death? I experienced a four-and-a-half second pause and wondered what the possible consequences might be for a longer pause. I am an ordinary citizen trying to come to grips with his predicament. The installation of a pacemaker has been recommended but I am resisting. I am 72 years of age and have undergone triple bypass surgery a few years back.

Well since you've had a bypass then a pacemaker shouldn't bother you !

In my 70s. I had a 6.2 second pause! This triggered a 4:00 AM call from My holter monitor guy. He seems surprised when I answered the phone in such a cheerful voice. Yesterday, my Cardiologist told me that I do NOT need a pacemaker or a defibrillator at this time. I was kind of surprised by that! He Is recommending having ablation procedure. I have 1 yr CHF and 1Afib episode 45dayz ago.
