Dr. Bruce Thowpoau Bliatout was the third Hmong person to be educated in the USA in the 1960's. This is a conversation with Dr. Bliatout about the difficult life as a child, the determination to educate himself, how he got selected to continue a higher education in the USA, how he helped the refugees after the fall of Laos in the 70's and 80's, his career as a public health official, and a word of advice for the young people.

Thank you for this great question. In short, I did not do the forensic investigation. However, the Center for Disease Control was heading a national study on this problem, along with 6 other investigators. Several cardiac problems were identified and the sizes of the hearts were larger as compared with those who died by other causes.
