I think people think of old people as some sort of fixed in time concept from 20-30 years back. If this woman was 78, she would've been 26 in 1971 when a clockwork orange came out. With all it's glorious modular synthesizer orchestration. And if she spent her 20s interested in analog synthesizers there's no reason she wouldn't have that same interest in her elder years.

I’m older and it’s so strange to me how young people are surprised by older folks creativity. I’ve been playing music since I was 5 so yes, I’ve been creative all my life. New instruments bring us joy and excitement just the same as anyone else.

Definitely. There seems to be this idea that folk will only went to be listening to Frank Sinatra in old age. I grew up throughout the post-punk years and industrial music scene. I'll be expecting Throbbing Gristle! A friend of mine DJ 'ed heavy metal in old people's homes and they loved it. The staff, not so much. More power to gran!
