"K-9 Jett initially retired from the West Hartford Police Department on Jan. 1, 2018, just after Lazure was promoted from officer to sergeant, but the dog was briefly brought back into service earlier in 2019, with Lazure handling him. Jett, however, was forced back into retirement in May when he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Jett initially responded well to treatment, but on Aug. 11 the Lazure family made the difficult and painful decision to put the 9-year-old jet-black German Shepherd to sleep."❤

Very sad. All due to crappy commercial diet and100% preventable. 9 yrs is way too young. Feed fresh real food meat eggs fish veggies berries yoghurt raw bones fish oil vitamins fresh greens. You will seldom see the vet, teeth don't get decay, bones are strong, no allergies or lumps, and high energy. We continue to feed rubbish to our pets. This dog deserved better but his human fed him junk food. ALL commercial food is junk. Feed Fresh food or don't get a dog!

I know for a fact that fresh food will restore health to broken dogs and bad food will destroy the health of healthy dogs. All dogs live long lives if fed FRESH FOOD NOT CRAPPY COMMERCIAL DIETS. EVERY COMMERCIAL DIET IS CRAP. EVERY SINGLE ONE. If you buy into the baloney about dog food being good for dogs, I'll tell you know, its the profit margin they care about not nutrition. Ditto for people. Eat right, no issues. Eat wrong, nothing but issues.

That kind of dog is very hyperactive and they need the attention or they will start kind of freaking out. He’s definitely helping the dog to stay calm. They are incredibly friendly to their handler and people they trust, but they will aggress instantly toward whoever they are told to attack.

As a German it's pretty interesting for me to watch this. Never knew the commands were in German. And for the ones of you who want to know what the command for attacking or chasing someone is (that's what we say to our dogs here): "Fass!", which means "catch!"

My wife and I trained our wolf mix dog with German commands. She is one of the smartest dogs I have ever seen. She Learns very quickly. She a member of our family and is so kind and playful with our grand kids. I and going to be missing her so much the day she passes away. We will be losing a member of the family that day.

Once I trained my first working dog, I never had to train another, much anyway. The new puppies just did as the others would. You just need to be leader of the pack! Love dogs, and this ones a beauty. He certainly loves to be obedient. One very well trained dog.

No you don't. Police dogs get Schutzhund training and its a huge liability in urban areas. GSDs are naturally protective. I never had to train mine but they were immensely protective and proactive about it. If you want good looks and shiny fur, feed real food not cans or pellets. Fish oil too.
