yeah, they never shy away from intimating venom's connection to the host, but people still act like it's some kind of controversial thing or too much is read into it. to which i point to Darkhold Spiderman, where Venom does everything he can in order to try and maintain Eddie through a pandemic wasting disease, in vain. when he reveals Eddie's death to peter they have a brief moment of shared remorse as it's made clear Venom has no more options. eddie is dead, everyone else in new york is compromised and dying, he has no viable host to jump to. peter offers to be venom's host again so he can survive, and venom thinks about it a moment before declining, instead choosing to stay with eddie's body even though it means he'll slowly starve to death without a host nutrient system. Venom doesn't *WANT* a new host. even if that host is the damn near invincible Peter. Venom wants to stay with EDDIE, because Eddie wasn't just his host, Eddie was HOME. he chooses to join Eddie in death rather than move on. the most cynical of reader can gloss almost everything venom does as an act of self preservation by a malignant parasite, EXCEPT THIS. eddie is no longer valuable to venom as a survival mechanism, this isn't parasitic instinct, this is an active choice to do something against his natural instinct with a guaranteed result of death of the organism, out of Emotion/Bonding for an obsolete host organism. venom has said it himself many times in comics, he and eddie found eachother by accident at really weird, really low points in their respective lives, but in that moment, that desperation bond turned out to be the best thing they could have asked for; that eddie was his ideal host, and he and eddie "Fit", like hand in glove, yin and yang.
