If Magnus lost all the time, she might very well think "well he's an incompetent loser anyway, so he deserves to lose, and if he's upset then that just shows his weakness and confirms my thoughts that he is a loser whose feelings are thus beneath consideration." It is ironic that the people who suffer from the fewest losses (or the equivalent to this based on the ratings of the people he tends to beat) are the ones for whom we (generally) feel the most sympathy when they do lose, when meanwhile you have people not much below him who are losing to similar people perhaps two or three times more often than he is, yet receive not two or three times more sympathy than he does, but rather something like two or three times _less_ sympathy than he does. She seems to truly be supportive of Magnus's discipline ... and she seems so "down to earth" instead of distancing herself from everyone, and the way she was able to immediately answer questions about Magnus shows true interest.
