No but bard is such a cool class. I get why you wouldn't want to have it remind it of your litteral Job but there's so many way to play bard. In one of my current games set in a fantasy/ postapocalyptic world, I play a plasmoid college of whispers bard Wich is basically an amorphous blob (called "the blob") it has no concept of identity, no concept of gender and litteraly came into existent two weeks before the start of the campaign. Since it can shape it's forme a little bit, it makes music by shaping holes into itself in Wich the winds blows, and thats how its speak, makes flutes or bagpipes sounding sounds etc. all magic is practical, and it's very fun to play

My current character is a College of Spirits bard. I based him somewhat off of the lead singer/character in the band Ghost, so he was raised in the temple of the Raven Queen (goddess of death), and he plays metal songs to summon spirits to help the party. I actually had another idea for a College of Swords bard that would basically be the Hound from Game of Thrones and use a lot of Vicious Mockery to reflect the Hound’s absolutely savage roasting he dished out throughout the series. 😂

To me it depends on the backstory of my character, I have one warforged who is a wizard. She basically was a statue that her mother made come to life but then left shortly after. So everything she knows she taught herself how to do, hence wizard and not a sorcerer. That and with abandonment issues, she's not keen on the other people in the party. Necromancy build too, since her mom is a vampire. lol

Current character is a way of the Open Hand monk. This was my first charscter in a looooong time (prior to this I hadn't played since high school), so I went for something where I would have to juggle too many complicated spells. I was inspired by Jackie Chan with a Shang-Chi twist, so he's basically a happy-go-lucky himbo who's very food-focused that zips his way through the battlefield, slipping past many attacks with my high AC and exceptional Saving Throws modifiers, then pushing and stunning baddies to make them easy targets for the rest of my party. Backstory is that my happy face is a front for my past, having been trained to be an assassin by my organized crime boss father at a young age, but only me and the GM know this, and it's gonna be a twist for the rest of the party to discover later

As a forever dm my character is every npc ever. But kne character ive always been interested in trying out is an old guy wizard with an EPIC backstory. This is an attempt at making the #1 mistake of dnd work. How can a level 1 character have an epic backstory? Well my character was once a great fighter. He brought down evil empires, fell in love with the wixard of the group, wrestled gods, and slew tarrasques. But that was about 50 years ago. Now hes 70, arthritic, and weak. He couldnt swing a sword if his life depended on it. But when his grandchildren are put in danger he has to go adventuring once again. He cant fight, so he picks up his late wife's spellbook and decides to become a wizard. His eyesight is shot, he has no clue what being a wizard entails, has no formal education, but damn it he'll become one to save his family. This idea brings a lot to the table. The dm can use this guys former connections to create villains and allies. Hes a departure from most dnd characters who are young dashing heroes. Hes still dealing with the trauma of losing his wife(who should have outlived him by centuries as a half elf), so that adds character weight. And he can bring some calm retrospective as he tries to ensure his new young friends dont make same mistakes he did as a kid himself
