I had a cockatiel for about 15 years and he was the most fun I've ever had in a pet. Such personality! I also just called him Birdie all the time. His name, I think, was Charlie? No idea, but he was always Birdie to us. My bird used to claim the trashcan as his own. He would crawl down into it and then get very possessive of it if you tried to get him out. Usually the trashcan just had paper in it (it was a downstairs trashcan next to the couch). He was so weird and I loved him.

We had 2 cocktails growing up, they where named teddy and lacy and they where some of the friendliest birds, teddy loved letting you know where he was with a fire truck whistle, but when we had to move they moved in with a family friend and became heroes, her house started on fire one night around 2am and teddy started whistling so loud that our friend woke up and was able to escape her house with both birds, sadly we lost both from smoke inhalation but will never forget those beautiful birds

Great looking bird. I just got my cockatiel three days ago. He is not tamed yet and I don't know how long it will take him to be tamed but I have nothing but time. His name is happy. This is my first cockatiel. I have had parakeets before him when I was a kid and like 7 years ago. But I neglected them and they died. So I told myself no more birds until I become more responsible. I am 41 almost 42 years of age. I will keep him inside his cage and not put my hands in the cage until after two weeks. I didn't clip his wings either.

A had a Senegal parrot for around 11 years and he was bought when I was a kid, so I grew up with loud, mean, and poopy birds. 😆 his name was mango and if he was upset, in trouble, or lonely he would say his name. He would do the pretty girl cat call whistle if you got dressed up and had on makeup, he would dance with you, he could say quite a few words and phrases, mango is the baby was his fav. As a bird lover I miss the squeaks and his creepy laugh, but he was also a mean little sucker and I almost had a few piercings from him... 😅

On Bird poop - I used to have 2 parakeets when I was younger. The second one died just a couple years ago. But I recall, over the 8 years I had them, there was so much bird poop. So much. They weren't allowed out of their cage so the bottom grate always got all the poop. I had to clean it every week, so I'm totally used to bird poop now. It's gotten to a point where I don't understand why people are so disgusted by pigeon poop. It's nothing at all like dog or cat poop, which is large, soft, and stinks. So yes, as a bird person, I can agree that you definitely get used to it.

I think it’s funny that he gets mad at you. We have two dachshunds and they are the most vindictive animals ever!! We got some chickens a couple weeks ago, and we spent the whole morning making sure they were good and that they were happy. And when we went inside, Maisie(the older dog) hid from us and kept walking around with her tail between her legs. She knew something was up! Another time, my Dad took one of her toys so she went into my parents room and peed on his side of the bed. She is the best/smartest/naughtiest dog we have had. The other one(Lottie) just enjoys eating.

I remember when he broke his wing. Poor little guy. We had a cockatoo for about a week. He had gotten out during a really bad storm, and ended up at our house. We kept him in the bathroom while we tried to find his owner. Never did, but we found a good home for him. Which is good because he drove us all crazy. I'm definitely not a bird person. :)

I've always been an animal lover who has always been around pets, and for 5 years I worked at a pet store. I always love hearing about and sharing stories about the fur babies and feather babies with others so any time I see a video where they are present instantly makes the video that much better in my book. Growing up I lived with my mom, aunt, and brother. I don't have much personal experience with birds (mainly dogs, cats, and ferrets) but I do remember my aunt had a parrot for years. I don't remember what type he was or really much on his personality and antics because I was kind of young still when he passed but I remember his name was Bubba and he was a good boy. lol!

I have a female cockatiel named Henry. And she is litterly just like ur bird. Except she wasn't hand raised or had any injuries. She is a year old. O tough her to dab, wave, and shake your hand (finger) but she's great. When I got her she wasn't really tame and would let anyone touch her like at all. But now I can kiss her and touch her everywhere. I'm working on desensitization to being held. For when I need to clip his wing

I have 2 cockatiels, one is yellow white and orange with a tiny bit of grey and the other one is just grey and white. The grey birds name is lizzy and the yellow birds name is remmy. I have had many birds in my life time, one of my favorites is marly, a cockatiel with the same design as remmy. Marly was a very happy bird that sang a song every morning, he was the very first bird we have ever had but sadly one day when I was at school my little brother was playing with marly and he flew away. Basically all of the birds we have had were cockatiels but the one parakeet named yoda, he (who turned out to be a she) came in a cage with lizzy but we switched out yoda with another bird because he kept on breaking things. That bird we switched for was named zed. Zed was a horrible bird who kept on biting people until they bleed and kept on attacking remmy and lizzy. (There is a whole ton more but I don't feel like talking about it)

Birds are awesome, but i'm allergic to feathers lol. So i can't be around birds for a long while. I had a cat who actually managed to get a hold of one of my oven gloves, and he carried it around like a security blanket. I didn't have the heart to take it away from him, until the thumb was gone and he was starting to tear into the top of the mitt.

hedda pinepark Why don't you actually explain to your mother that your bird needs the larger cage because having too small of a cage can damage him physically and mentally? I think that might help.

Trimming their wings actually can hurt them to the point of die. It is dangerous if they loose blood (which they do when doing that), dont do that to your bird please, if you dont have a propper space for them to fly then dont get a bird, they are made for flying.
@AxcelerationDesigns6 жыл бұрын
This is untrue. If you are trimming your birds wings to the point they bleed you are doing it wrong. You only need to trim the flight feathers at the front half of the wing in a curve to match the rest of the wing. There should never be blood at the tip of the feather is grown enough. m.petmd.com/bird/grooming/how-clip-birds-wings

U can clip wings properly, but it shouldn't be done forever, my birds are fully flighted and they learn how to fly. Its better for them physically to fly around all day
