Nobody likes to feel stupid or feel like they are being talked down on even if they are completely in the wrong. What your brother did was align himself with how y'alls mom was feeling so she did not feel pressured or bullied. So when she was able to be receptive to what he had to say she was able to think logically on the subject. So I think we have to go about a different way on communicating our point because for them being "too direct" is disrespectful, even if you have no intention to disrespect them. It is very frustrating because most of the time you just want to help out but they'll take it the wrong way.

Ugochi Daniel I’m starting to see that. I know Libras are so charming because they’re diplomatic. But for a blunt person like me and Jeannie I guess it’s like “Why can’t you just take the truth?” I think like “aren’t you admitting that you can’t handle the straight truth without being babied or nursed first 😅?” Idk I feel like it’s commendable to be able to take things cold Turkey instead of being coerced before you create a change.

Sometimes were so worried about calling things out in a negative manner we forget that what we would say is "kissing ass" is really just genuinely trying to see where someone is at before approaching them about a problem... Or "just being nice to mom". I think its good to take your time with someone when they have a genuine problem..especially when it is a a family member...
@sandyrivera24035 жыл бұрын

Jeannie, as a daughter who also tends to butt heads with her mother, I can see where Daniel is coming from and why his approach works more. On The Real, you seem to approach others in a similar manner that Daniel does (presenting your opinions in a manner that allows others to come to their own realizations themselves) while with your mom, you perhaps don’t give her the same grace. I’m guilty of this too.😩 If you’ve read Dale Carnegie’s “How To Win Friends & Influence People” he encourages us to use Daniel’s approach. If we all sought to understand where someone else is coming from FIRST, before seeking to be understood - AND we approach people based on THEIR love language, then you’ll get a better result. It’s easier for someone to change when you lead them to come to the revelation themselves, versus telling them or commanding them to see things your way. You win more bees with honey Jeannie.🤗 You can’t change your Mom, and your brother understands this. You both love your mom and want the same end result. Just treat Mama Mai like you would treat someone else’s mom, and approach her in HER love languages (showing concern first, talking about shopping, etc.) and maybe you’ll get a better result. It’s both what you say AND how you say it.😊 That’s not manipulation, it’s WISDOM. (Now let me save this message and apply it for myself with my own Momma!😂 )
