Nike, making the public aware of what can be done in the battle of plastics polluting our oceans is half the battle. You have been doing this for years. In California we have the public beaches that get dragged most days to keep them clean. Third world countries do not have that luxury. These people have to live with all this trash washing up on their beaches I believe have been overwhelmed by all of it. You are giving the people a chance to change their circumstances one step at a time. Take Care.

There are machines available now that can use plastic to make t shirts and other clothing items. That could widen your reach with recycled plastic and give these communities a chance to make money. Imagine each island in the Caribbean selling t shirts with the island name and logo like 100% Grenada recycled clothing.

😊Lots of things happening in this video. Glad to see Nike is still letting people know about her project. Jamie, having a cataract done is easy. I had both of my eyes done, I am a retired nurse, and I was a bit apprehensive, however it was all for nothing. I didn’t need anything for pain or an anesthetic, they just numbed my eyes with drops. I do wish I had the multi focal lenses put in. I can see distances great but can read anything without glasses. Colin, what will I do if you stop filming? I count on you posting something every week.

Really like the part about MOCEAN. The last 10 years of my working career, I worked in research improving the plastics that all went into that "garbage". Seeing what they are doing with those little chippers and extruders was really neat. It's really great to see projects in third world areas that can be used to improve quality of life. I worked with a company that developed a "drip irrigation" system so that people in remote areas could grow gardens using a simple 5 gallon bucket and drip tubing to grow their own vegetables. Keep up the great work.

3d printing is becoming pretty popular and will continue to grow imo. i think there should be a focus on converting / extruding recycled plastics into spools of 3-d printing filament. then they could be resold for 3d printing, or used with 3d printers by those collecting them as well. while 3d printers are more complex and expensive than a simple extruder, i think in the long run it might be easier to make money that way.

What amazes me about plastic waste is that everyone is trying to invent some over engineered contraption to clean it up or do something with it but no one seems to be focused on tackling the source of the problem. A bit like oil companies talking about carbon capture as a way out of the climate change problem.

it would be cool to see bigger units and presses make things we use. Plastic is just not a good thing. Wonder if you could make plastic beams for structures. I have seen her do this on her channel.
@WhiteSpotPirates2 жыл бұрын
Yes there are bigger units and u can make beams. The bigger the units the harder it becomes to work with them in remote areas. The next set of machines that goes into the next recycling workspace will be able to do small beams. But it takes a lot of time and effort and is economically not competitive with other building material. That’s why we focus on products that will allow to make a profit for the workspace that can then be reinvested in building cooperations / logistic network with bigger recycling facilities that can process larger amounts of plastic. But that’s a loooong way and first we are starting off fairly small. ☺️🤞🏼

would be nice if you could produce filament for 3d printers. or producing complete sufboards. - as theyre used right at the beaches where the plastic accumulates

It's estimated that by the year 2060 the manufacture of plastics will triple in size. But we can now produce plastics that are completely biodegradable. If you really want to make a difference, you should lobby your politicians to pass legislation to manufacture the biodegradable plastics instead of what we have now. We would still need to clean up the mess we already have, but at least it wouldn't get any worse....triple in size.
