Flo.... l am proud of you. .. You really know much about the Nigerian capital market investment environment. Plz, one quick addendum.. from my experience as a stockbroker... A stockbroker can sell your shares in their custody for their own gains without your permission, consent, or paying you. Some of my former colleagues did it then. Though some were punished by the authorities, others ran away. So technically, it is possible to do so...as a fraud.
@anele56964 ай бұрын
Really? Whats the best way to avoid this?
@basiluwandu97984 ай бұрын
@anele5696 You open a special account with CSCS... then you move all your shares from one or multiple stockbroker(s)... where "You Only" can authorize a sale by a particular stockbroker if and when you want to do so.
@FloFinance4 ай бұрын
Hi Basil, this must only happen in those one-man stockbroking firms that I call kweekwee stockbrokers. Also, I have a record of the number of shares I have with each company, if I look for even half a stock, the stockbroker will have him/herself to blame. It's hightime SEC stopped licensing those kinds of brokers. It's not only in the banking sector they would be doing consolidation. What's the need of having over 100 licensed stockbrokers but only those in the top 10 handle 70% of the volume of shares traded? Thank you for always taking the time to share from your wealth of experience. ❤

Flo, i am glad i came across your channel especially at the beginning of my investment journey even though i had already bought GTB shares before meeting you. The challenge now is that i bought the shares without CSCS and CHN numbers because i don't even know that i needed a stock broker to be registered with Nigeria Stock Exchange Market. The question now, can i still register with a stock broker and transfer my shares with him from the bank that i purchase them from. PLS let me know what you think i should do, Thank you.
@FloFinance4 ай бұрын
I heard that they will create CSCS accounts and get CHNs for those who purchased without these. I don't know how they will later give you all your CSCS details but I would wait and see what happens after the shares have been alloted before registering with a stockbroker. By then hopefully you would have received the CSCS account info + CHN (somehow) then submit them to the stockbroker so they won't try to create another one for you.

Flo do you reinvest your dividends for compounding or you take it?
@FloFinance4 ай бұрын
I think you are talking about Mutual Funds. Dividends of single stocks don't work that way. When you receive your dividends, it may not be a good time to buy new stocks. Even if it is, you just increase the number of shares you hold with the company and earn more in dividend payout next time they pay dividends. You don't earn compounding interest.

Aunty flo, i must say kudos to you for all you have been doing on your channel. Your analysis and comparison on the zenith bank and GTBank shares, it was really helpful. However, i have a stockbrocker by name "Yuderb LTD" which i registered with, but it seems the firm has closed up. Does it have any effect on the registration, most humble specially on the shares i registered with it? Secondly, Does having CSCS account not come with a CHN? I was told i don't have a CHN and so i cannot do some certain things. If i must have it, how do i go about it? Does it go affect having to invest in another even with CSCS account available?

CSCS account number and CHN are twins, there's no way you would have one and not the other. Do you have your CSCS statement anywhere? Do you have a CSCS account login?

@@FloFinance Thanks for getting back Aunty Flo. I have this 8 digit number I got from the former stockbroker I had or registered with in Ikeja, Lagos then, by name YUDERB Securities Ltd, Since then when I left Lagos to Enugu, I have searched and search the stock exchange platform for the firm to no avail. . I remember going to the office in 2016, where it was then during registration, but they are no more there. This firm was the one that got me the CSCS account then, but I don't know now if it s real or not. Besides, no one has complained about the CSCS account since I got it. Also, I do not have CSCS account Login or statement anywhere. Please, I do I get them? If you have the link to where I can do that, please let me have it Best Regards
@FloFinance4 ай бұрын
With no CSCS statement and login, there's no way to confirm that they have actually opened a CSCS account for you. 1. You said no one has complained about your CSCS account. Who and who did you present it to that did not complain? 2. Which NGX instruments/shares did you successfully purchase with only a CSCS account but no CHN? 3. If you can't locate your stockbroker, who helped you purchase these instruments?

What aunty flo is teaching is what the majority of Nigerians will never do. When you buy shares in Nigeria, you have to be on top of it. Monthly reviews and monthly engagement. Never ever ever ignore your shares. Stocbrokers should send you monthly or quarterly reviews. Your stockbroker company also hosts end of year events. Laziness will ruin your investment. The Nigerian stock exchange hosts lots of events for the public to attend. Management and monitoring of your shares are how you are rewarded. Also, read the contract on the third-party apps. Not all of them are insured. So you are at risk of losing your money. Make sure your stock broker is not a one man business.

If you don't need a middle man or traditional broker, you can invest directly on reputable financial apps such as Bamboo, trove etc and you can likewise purchase foreign stocks on this platforms aswell. For me personally, I prefer traditional brokers because they have root, physical offices and you can also get financial advice or assistance from them directly. Just make sure you use license brokers by SEC and you are good to go. Hope you find this helpful. Cheers!
