When you think about how much time mike v spends either inverted and/or with his head closer to the ground then the average skater not only is the helmet not something to judge, but something that makes total sense.

This was seriously great...have ridden maybe 30 MIke V decks since 87 and still do today...the PP Elephant graphic is still the most powerful graphic in skateboarding history and I still see it everyday. Its been with me that long. Mike V influenced me heavily after Public Domain. I couldn't ollie onto handrails just didn't have that pop but after Public Domain seeing Mike caveman rails I could then make them. And Madar's is the man. Was lucky enough to meet him in Dubai a few years back and he's the real deal. What you see there is what you get...really nice guy and very very good at skateboarding. And big shout at Kristian Svitak. Style for miles.

There has been some damn good Skate Takes episodes - this one is tough to beat. Mike V. is about as gnarly as it gets. In 1988, Mike V. along with Lance Mountain, Steve Saiz and Rodney Mullen came to my hometown in Memphis, TN for a demo in a parking lot of a local mall. There were quite a of us groms trying to get their autographs and they all graciously stayed til everyone got it.... I was ( and will always be) a fan( hate using that term) of Lance and his skating from watching the Powell vids and contests. It was Mike V that was skating everything that day in the mall parking lot - both street and vert. From then on Mike V was one of those skaters I paid attention to as far as he rode for and his sponsors to his photos in mags. Mike is a true pioneer in the world of skateboarding....

As I drifted in and out of skateboarding over the last 35 years, I could always seem to rely on Mike to be a rock solid consent no matter what era of skateboarding Mike carved his niche and is able to stay relevant. I give you all the props in the world brother!! I’m stoked on all you do! Starting with Elephant( shit situation, so sorry). Now with Srreetplant. Elephant bullshit obviously happened for a reason. Cool video. I've always been a bit conflicted with Mike V because while I adore his skating style he had this reputation as this sort of mean guy who will fight you, a mean guy. I think that was an unfair assumption on my part but he just seemed like the kind of guy I can admire from a distance but we'd probably never hang out because he was too good and too intense for me. After seeing this video and seeing how he treats people now, I think he has both changed and grown as a person while I also have a better idea of not just who he was but who he is now. I will always be watching his old and new stuff to be inspired in doing what is considered old school and less common stuff because that is what drives me.

This was probably 2008 or something like that. Was a great time for skating and mike was just representative of some part of skating as a whole at the time, skating for element, being in the tony hawk games and such. Place was packed.
