Well maybe it’s harder to balance on a skateboard than a bike, maybe I prefer the bike over a skateboard. Maybe I prefer the ease of using a OneWheel over a bike. Maybe I like the small form factor of a OneWheel over my bike. It’s not about price for what you get. It’s about what you will use the product for, and if it’s worth it to you.

To those who purchased the original unit. Sad, but that is the price one pays for being on the top of new technology. To stay on top, you may be able to sell your unit to a beginner and purchase the newer model! Sometimes it is best to wait for the next generation of improvements before making a purchase. People of all ages make that mistake, but at least you are enjoying your ride now! You also know your future will be better because one day you will obtain the improved version! Say, if a car has faulty software the company will make a software update, but if they are trying to create something completely new, they will make a new car, now just update the old car, because the old car has insufficient hardware to handle new software.

I found it easier to drop in extreme mode, since dropping on elevated mode puts pressure on your rear foot to maintain balance at an angled board. On extreme mode, the board can drop evenly.

Shout out to the the kid riding one of these back in 2015 at Western Michigan University. He was riding a prototype into Haworthe Business School as I was watching him through a window while I was in class. After seconds of contemplating I ran out and chased him through the hall and followed him into class and asked him about it. He let me try it before his class began. Love the fact that the company is innovating. But I have to say it's quite disappointing to see that battery life was not part of the updated onewheel+. I, and many others believe that was the most lacking feature of the original. An upgraded range would be a far better way to improve the product, ride smoothness and responsiveness are secondary due to the already fact that those traits are sufficient on the original board.

Andrew Abraham they updated the speed! They did that added a better hyper-core motor and still have the same battery and charge time, I think a lot of people don't get this and those upgrades use more battery they I think did upgrade the battery! I can use myne for a couple hours come home eat charge it up while I'm on my phone, it tells me it's at 100% I go out and ride!

Btw would it be possible to make a onewhell were you dont need a motor? So that it drives from your own power, by leaning forwards and backwards. Only hard thing would be, to make it drive stable, so you dont fall down, but i think a non-electric-onewheel would be really fun.

The motor is entirely necessary for this to even function. Leaning forward doesn't magically produce energy that allows you to accelerate to 20mph or climb hills. A motorless one could go downhill I suppose, but balancing it would be far more difficult

I mean, that you lean forward and then you give the wheel a little push to drive it. Leaning backwards shouldnt influence the wheel.

I'm not entirely sure you do... that's physically impossible. When standing on a onewheel, you can't push. Lift one foot and the other goes down. A motorless monowheel with a platform that pivots at the centre generates no movement. You'd literally just rock the platform back and forth while remaining stationary. Unless of course you modify the design, which I think I can understand what you're getting at. If you put additional wheels under both edges of the platform you'd be able to rock it down on one side, push with the other foot to build speed, then hop on and balance. I'd imagine the difficulty being akin to manualling on a skateboard: extremely difficulty, but entirely possible. I just don't think it'd be all that fun...

Elimentus Well, its hard to explain, because english is not my native language, but I will try: 1. With push, I dont meant pushing with you foot from the ground, more on that later. 2. Imagine, you have a onewheel, but the wheel wont spin, no matter what you do. Now, if you lean forward, the wheel wont spin, you will just lean forward, but automatically, the wheel isnt standing on the same point as before. Now imagine, that the wheel can spin, but only while leaning backward. If you lean forward now, you can only get about 2-5cm forward, but not because the wheel is spinning (remember, it doesnt spin while leaning forward, its "locked"). If you lean backward now (the wheel will be unlocked) you still remain on the same position (well, you got 2-5 cm forward because of the 2-5 cm you got from leaning forward, while the wheel was locked). Hint: To say the wheel will be locked if you lean forward might be a little bit complicated. Just imagine, that the wheel can only spin in one direction. If you are leaning now in the direction where the wheel is locked, you will get 2-5 cm forward. If you lean back, the wheel will stay on the same position, but the board is now "resetted" so that you can lean forward again. And now imagine you would be in a flow, i guess 2mph should be possible. And if you understood what I mean, then here a little bit more: If you would want to increase the speed, you could try to put some gears in the wheel (this is the complicated part). Like it is in a bike. I hope you understand what I mean.
