Lovely big puppy! And agree - getting a new pet (dog, or cat, as in my case) doesn't "replace" the one that passed away - it augments - new character traits, new oddities, new funny things, but the same joy at the end of the day. A pets life is shorter than ours, and the end is painful, but the new beginnings are unforgettable. Thanks for sharing!

I know too many people who lost their pets and decided to never have one ever again, out of fear, or misplaced loyalty to their departed friends... I hop this helps people get back in the groove. Love isn't divided between pets: it is multiplied.

I think people have some kind of need to have someone they can love and take care of in a non-judgemental, unconditional, uncomplicated way. Giving love feels as essentially human as receiving it.
