Professor Rizal Damanik, Deputy for Training, Research and Development of the National Population and Family Planning Board, Badan Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana Nasional (NPFPB-BKKBN) Indonesia, and Monash Arts PhD alumnus, shares how the Australia Awards Scholarship (AusAid) greatly contributed towards his Doctorate.
As a leader in the fields of Medicine and Agriculture, Professor Damanik was Head of Postgraduate programs in Community Nutrition in 2009, and later in 2014 he became a Professor of Community Nutrition for the Agricultural University of Bogor. He was a Research Fellow for Monash University Asia & Pacific Nutrition Centre and an Assistant Professor for the International Islamic University.
As a Monash University graduate, Professor Damanik holds a PhD in Human Nutrition (2005) and a Master of Reproductive Sciences (1994).
