15:50 That's true. Most Asian parents don't say I love you to their kids and they're also not complimentary at all. I grow up in an Asian household but most compliments I get was from other people outside my house. I'm glad your mom brought up this issue and changes the environment for you guys ❤

I agree. I grew up in a mixed cultural household and my dad is so much alike like Ashley and Ambers mom. The way my aunts are with my cousins on my dads side is so sad because it’s tough love but it shouldn’t always be expressed like that because it gets distorted as you grow up🙁

the "positive affirmations in childhood" talk, is so real. my parents didn't believe in me, i lived with a single mother and she was always like "you you won't ever get anywhere in life" so i didn't really believe in myself and i ended up not listening in school and ruin my grades as a child. the love you get from your parents is so important..

Your mom is so well spoken and charismatic 🥺 the way she spoke about wanting to break generational values so you guys can feel loved and cared for like any child should warmed my heart. My dad was the same way and sort of distanced himself from his parents because the toxic standards and expectations they kept throwing at him especially being the oldest was too much for him and also dating outside of Asian culture was another. Cheers to your mom because she’s the best 🥺💖

Wow your mother is amazing!!! My mom was 20 when she had me she had came to the U.S very recently and was on her own with a child, it makes me think now as a 20yr old that i should really wait for children. Your mother was prepared and was a very mature adult breaking generational traumas and that's very inspiring to me, to not have someone around who gives that example i doubt i can do that but she's a great example that it can be done
