Its not that sudying has become less important, its just that its definition has become more vast with different fields being open for exploration. Studying is not just those history, science and math notebooks. Not anymore. Now you can choose from a vast number of feilds and see which calls to you. My younger brother, just got in 11th standard, is not that good in your textbook studies. Can barely hold his own. But i have seen him design some very good templates for different things. I was amazed when he, last year in 10th standard, designed a template that was way way better than the one designed by the designer my father hired. I never saw him built up his skills to match and even outshine some professional working in the field for years. Of course, whenevr i saw him tinkering and head fixed in front of computer screen, i just sighed, thinking its the generation, going astray from the well tread path of traditional academics. But oh, he was getting ahead of his game. Building a very innovative skill, much in demand these days. Im sure he will find his way, to contribute towards society, without having to bury his head in books for hours. There are many ways now to do that. So lets not just go ahead and make generalisations about the generation, which is more and more innovative than those it succeeded. Its not like past generations were the epitome of academic excellence.

You shouldn't be embarrassed to admit that you did well throughout your school. That's something to be proud of. That shows your consistency and that's a great quality. Yes marks don't matter but people making fun of people who get higher marks shouldn't happen and state illogical examples like Bill gates was college dropout or something 😂 c'mon he dropped out of Harvard, which is one of the toughest colleges to get through. Esp. in college, marks actually don't matter, nobody cares there. But people who score good marks shouldn't either be seen as 'people with only bookish knowledge' , it shows their dedication and commitment to that, other people who don't score good marks may be committed to other dreams too. At the same time, india should stop making this obsession with good marks, getting good marks is a really good quality, just like so many other good character traits, but not the ultimate solution.

I can vividly recall 2014 when I first heard about him and saw his various memes circulating on WhatsApp. Although I witnessed all of this still I wasn't much interested since I was in 7th Standard only and had nothing to do with 12th boards back then. 😅 Fast forward to 2018, 2019 and 2020, I was taking my 10th and 12th boards and got to know about him with a renewed perspective and this time with more interest since he had secured 99.6% and i obviously was trying to get some motivation in my 12th (although I got 93% only 😶). During all these years I did search what he's up to now and used to find his name sometimes with the SRCC related stuff here & there. And I kind of knew he must be doing something big afterall he has been a national topper. But to be very honest, I wasn't expecting him to be in this UPSC list. He is quintessence of an inspiration!
