He's big, blue, and gets a glorious 11-15 mpg with premium gas. Meet Sully! At 250k miles, he's seem better days, but the drivetrain is solid and he should have a lot of life left. In today's video, we'll run over everything I've learned about the truck so far, and some of my plans for it going forward.

My ‘99 has 515,000 miles. It runs strong and rides better then my dads 2013 200 series.

I was searching a used vehicle for myself and had come across 1998 toyota land cruiser. Found your video on KZbin. I'm amazed how these toyota's can just go on and on. Very nice video 👍. Giving proper details.

I have the 98 cruiser with lockers the good year it's got 330k and doesn't burn a drop of oil and oil stays clean best vehicle I've ever hard only thing seems hard to get parts and they are costly and notice theres more parts for the fj 80 and the model after the 100 series

Thanks! The timing belt + water pump was around $1000 at a Toyota dealer.

Clif D can have it done at an independent shop for $5-600 with water pump. Shop around

Where can I get an owner's manual in english for 98 L/C 100 series with a turbo diesel. Mine came in all Japanese.

Mine did, yeah. But, it came with an aftermarket keyless entry/start system, so I can't use the buttons on the keys.

How much do these things run for with 250k miles?

It really depends on condition, I've seen them go from anywhere from 3-25k with that mileage. Condition, modifications, and current maintenance matter a lot more.

4500, but I immediately spent another 1k on the timing belt and water pump, so figure 5500 to get it up to speed.
